An old, savvy, alert Parrot named Stanley. He is 15 years old, living at a Parrot sanctuary in Louisa, Virginia. I fell for Stanley, as he was totally focused on me no matter where I walked, just like he enjoyed my interest in him ... until he fell asleep in his perch in this rough-cut window. This is Stanley's spot, where he feels safe and happy. The wonderful sanctuary can be found at www.projectperry.com.

The international community has repeatedly acknowledged the importance of clean water to development. In adopting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2000, the world pledged to halve the proportion of people around the globe without access to safe drinking water and sanitation.

Mindy and Taz.

Taz is OK! I checked on him today after school and he was running around playing. It was the matter of him making it through the night and i am very relieved he did, though paranoid now.... :D so now i have a water bowl for the kittens. :)

Sorry about the focus but it's a cute pic (same with the previous one)

Opposites meeting at an intersection, Seoul

Today I read in the newspaper about a really good high school senior girl high jumper, so I decided to go the the conference meet in which she was competing this afternoon. This is not her, but was the best shot of all the pictures I took. (I didn't have the setting correct for this picture so there is a little blurriness.)The bar was at 5'2" here. This brought back memories of my high school jumping days, and it was fun to watch. The weather was awful though--a steady drizzle and a bit cool, so it was also not conducive to taking pictures.(Or to high jumping for that matter!)The girl who won jumped 5' 6" and she is only 5'5" tall. It was impressive.

Joseph Blessing, Paul Burge and Mary Harbutt

Joseph had 'Signs in Mind' and present ed exciting sculptures in ferro-rock-tec, a self-developed unique material inspired by travels in Europe.

Paul’s abstract art, largely from the sub conscious mind, portrays mood and energy.

Mary’s art making is a response to the textures and dynamics of her surroundings. Her collection of paintings and collages includes abstract representations of the landscape.
