Having previously posted my favourite American music track of 2024 flic.kr/p/2qB7Byt I'm taking time out from the Texas photos to replay my overall favourite music track of 2024. Originally from 2016, I had never heard this masterpiece until a few months ago. The photo shows another mountain view from Wasdale in England's Lake District.
Here are a couple of Black Lives Matter murals in downtown Raleigh that were created after the death of George Floyd. These can be found on South Wilmington Street in Raleigh, NC.

Combating climate change and making the planet greener and cleaner is an issue for everyone. How times have changed since World Environment Day was launched by the United Nations General Assembly 36 years ago. We wonder if they considered then that today climate change and other environmental impacts would have such an impact on world hunger and poverty. The world has yet to figure out how it will deal with global warming, changing rainfall patterns, melting glaciers, rising sea-levels and climate refugees. In many countries defence forces might find themselves torn between humanitarian relief operations and guarding their borders against climate refugees, as climate change and scarce resources, forcing millions of climate refugees across the borders.
Climate change is expected to put an estimated 50 million more people at risk of hunger and water stress by 2020. It poses a serious threat to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), especially during a period of global economic recession, when resources needed to cope with climate change may be reassigned. Agriculture and deforestation account for 30 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions. These two sectors can therefore contribute to reducing emissions if agricultural practices are changed.
Poor people in developing countries are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. The negative impacts on their crop yields are already being felt and will be increasingly severe. Climate change is likely to affect forest expansion and migration, and exacerbate threats to biodiversity resulting from land use/cover change and population pressure. Marine and coastal ecosystems are likely to be affected by sea level rise and temperature increases. Human health will also be adversely affected. Rising temperatures and rainfall variability had led to more climate-induced diseases and heat stress. Experts predict climate change-related stresses -- including disasters, food and water shortages and conflicts over scarce resources -- could permanently uproot 200 to 250 million people by mid-century.
According to new technique and research our planet's continents were arranged 2.5 billion years ago. We are homo consumens of the earth and very young specie still trying to understand the mysteries of nature and in our ignorance we have destroyed it. Climate change offers humanity no second chances. Only rich countries can break the deadlock crippling international climate negotiations and prevent the world lurching into climate disaster.

took a shot during the winter when I started taking photos of people. it reminds me of Ecclesiastes where it talks about vanity and everything under the sun. so I encourage you all to strive and search for the things that last and that matter. but that's different for everyone.
No matter how often we perform this manoeuvre, capturing a freely drifting spaceship with the International Space Station's robotic arm in full manual mode always gets an astronaut's pulse up.

Pardon the dearth of photos recently, but I haven't come across any interesting photos worth posting these past few weeks. Largely due to us preparing for our annual Texas/Hawaii Summer vacation!
Now there'll be a whole slew of pics coming over the next few weeks from our travel around Texas and Hawaii!
Here's the first one to kick it off. A 5xp handheld HDR shot taken of the plane we took to the US. Small problem with this photo though (see NOTE!).
Travus gets credit for this shot because he said: "Daddy take an HDR shot of this, the Sun looks pretty behind the clouds!"
Only a matter of time before I'm taking lessons from him on how to shoot/render HDR ;-)

After the fight it would seem that Julian has taken some damage to his leg after taking the force of the canon flying back words on him after firing it.
"You should take it your body is in need of repair boy," Stated Sir Cyrus stopping and pointing to a place for Julian to rest.
"We have to find Arabella she is a lone! what if she is in danger or worse what if she..." Julian tried to argue before finding him self cut off by Sir Cyrus.
"Your in no shape to go rushing off and we are in need of some one to fix your body if you lose it than the only thing holding your soul will be gone. Do you really think you dying will make Arabella happy?" Said Cyrus as she waited for the young boy to reply.
"We can go slow but we can not stop she needs us I know just know it," said Julian feeling powerless but still knowing he had to do everything he could.
"Still trying for that Kiss I see," Said Sir Cyrus in a playful manner.
"Well yeah all Hero's try to win a kiss," saying Julian as he came to a stand and started slowly moving.
"Yeah the rewords after the kiss are amazing too," said Sir Cyrus as he started to day dream a little bit about a love from long ago.
"WHAT!!! there is more?? Like what?" asked Julian hoping to find out what might come after.
"Your going to have to find out on your own kiddo its just how the Hero game Works," Stated Sir Cyrus laughing under his breath at just how innocent the Boy who tries to act like a man really was.
"Oh Man, No fear!" stated Julian still wandering what comes after the kiss.

Another character that won't be appearing, but is a somewhat important part of JL: Overlords. Prepare yourself, his story is kinda out there.
Jor-El
Born during the height of Kryptons era of great expansion, Jor-El was one of the first to know something was wrong with Krypton. As one of Kryptons elite scientists, he had been chosen to crew one of Kryptons most important and well equipped space stations, 'Rao's hand'
From his orbit above Krypton, Jor-El could see that something terrible was happening to the planet. His instruments confirmed his suspicions when they found that Krypton was wobbling on its axis, and its core had become unstable. Naturally, he rushed back to Krypton to inform the high council of his concerns.
So, Jor-El stood before the high council and made his case. He urged them to seriously consider evacuating the planet, and resettling on one of Kryptons many colonies. They laughed at him. They dismissed his concerns by fobbing them off as 'Gravitational re-alignment'. But Jor-El new they were wrong. He had estimated that there was around 3 years until the planets core would destabilise, and cause the planet to be destroyed.
So, for three years, he planned. Eventually, he came to a conclusion: the council must be removed. Luckily, he was friends with one of Kryptons great military leaders, General Zod. Although Zod, being a soldier, didn't entirely understand the matter at hand, he agreed with Jor-El that the high council were incompetent.
And so, the general and the scientist led a revolution, to remove the high council, and assume command of the planet, and give the evacuation order. Suffice to say, they failed. They were outnumbered and Zod was arrested, imprisoned in the Phantom zone for high treason.
Jor-El, however, was lucky. His wife, Lara, was pregnant, and he knew that if he couldn't save Krypton, he could at least save their child. Jor-El managed to escape, and went into hiding. He made a recording, of himself, explaining his sons heritage, and preparing a message for whoever found him. He also created an interface based on himself, to help guide his child as he grew up. He was able to build a ship, load his child on it, and blast him off to a planet called 'Earth'. Once this was done, he loaded a second rocket with the codex, a device that stored all of Krypton. Culture, customs, all the important aspects of Kryptonian life. He set this rocket upon its course and headed to the roof. As he entered the turbo-lift, the ground shook. Violently. Kryptons destruction had begun.
The first rocket, containing his son, named Kal-El, set upon its course, taking it straight to Earth. However, the second rocket, went off course, still on track to Earth, but the long way round.
As Jor-El and Lara watched their son head off into the blackness of space, a look of horror swept across Jor-Els face. He had mixed up the messages. He had meant to put the interface on his sons ship, and his message on the other. He had made a mistake, which could have devastating consequences. He was powerless to fix his mistake, so he did the only thing he could do. He held his wife, as his world burned. He could only hope his son would live to see a brighter future.
This is another version of the previous fire engine. Someone suggested this different name, as it reminded him the character from Pixar's movie. My two kid's agreed with this name better.

The local artists who created them have a powerful message to share about how black lives matter, the importance of having your voice heard and expressing the desire for justice and equal protection under the law. These can be found on Hillsborough Street.

Distorsion

Life's look of distortion is never simple
Naked it comes in its lines and face
Minimal transparent in anyplace
Through every its emotion and path wimple
The daughters of sea and the sons of air
Both woven in subterranean of one
Curves to another like subtle waves there

Okay, so here's a question (as I'm not working until tonight, and so have some time to sit here in front of the computer, commanding the internet to entertain me):
Is it better for new photographers to use digital or film? Does it make a difference?
Been giving digital & film a lot of thought lately, obviously, and the other day I was talking it over with a friend who's not a photographer, explaining to him the differences, the different challenges and limitations of both.
I'm of the opinion, and this is of course colored by my own experience, that film is better for new folk, that it's the specific limitations of film that help a budding photographer prioritize, and through that, begin to carve out a style.
Having to decide what shots you just HAVE to take, because there's only 36 frames, which shots do you really want, which shots are the most important.
But i'm open to other points of view, as long as they agree with me 100%.
Three pints of bitter before lunch and a packet of salted peanuts! The Guide tells us that the alcohol will cushion the impact of passing through a matter transferance beam and the peanuts will replace the lost salt and protein. These are the very long and incredibly steep escalators from the railway station up to T2 at Helsinki Airport. The architecture is stunning and as well as the very reasonable €5 ticket price the Sydney Airport line could learn a lot from the no nonsense Finns. I'm headed for Stockholm and my sixth country in four days. I know how Arthur felt now.
