iPhone 3GS (Format126 app). Grand Rapids, MI. A bit of a departure from the shots I've uploaded lately, but I really liked how Format126's hi-con filter brought out the texture in this one.

Water. A reflection. A flower. An iPhone 3GS photo (ShakeItPhoto app). Was in one of those moods and it looked like the flower was getting attacked...lol...cheered me up for a bit...

William Eggleston Project: Photo #4 (the last photo in the project and my personal favorite)

Employs Eggleston’s use of making the mundane interesting & subject matter as a representation of a given time & geographical area.

Project Explanation: Can be found in description of “Tears of a Clown” (three photos ago).

iPhone 3GS (ShakeItPhoto app). I'm not usually one for nature photos, but road construction forced me down a road I don't normally travel. Couldn't resist pulling off to the side of the road to snap some photos. I'm not sure what they were growing, but it was completely yellow...except for the pit in front of the telephone pole...

I'm not a car guy, but this one caught my attention. iPhone 3GS (ShakeItPhoto app).

This is another photo used by ArtPrize on their blog. The blog post can be found here. Again, it's really been an honor to have been asked to contribute to their blog.

The piece is “Vision” by David Spriggs (artist voter ID: 48975). Grand Rapids, MI. Shown at the Grand Rapids Art Museum. ArtPrize 2010.

I promise that by mid-October I will catch up on all my contacts and comments!

Taken with an iPhone 3GS (ShakeItPhoto app). This was just as it appears in the basement of a Christmas party my wife and I attended. This very well could be the photo Santa points to whenever one of the reindeer refuses to oblige with his commands. Tis the season?

It's the aberration in the reflection that kept this otherwise cliche shot from being deleted. iPhone 3GS (ShakeItPhoto app). 8/30/09.

iPhone 3GS (ShakeItPhoto app). My two-year old son's shoes, which he refused to take off the table (regardless of how nicely I asked). sigh...stubborn like his mother. ;-) 9/6/09.

Taken with an iPhone 3GS (ShakeItPhoto app). A random light on an orange wall at Michael Pfleghar's MFA presentation, which was held at Tanglefoot Studios in Grand Rapids, MI.

This simplicity of the photo and the "light" were the inspiration for this title, as some of the best epiphanies occur when we simplify our lives. However, this is often easier said than done. ;-)

Sadly, we missed the Shepard Fairey exhibit at the Cincinnati Contemporary Art Museum by one day. Seriously, one day.

However, we did take some time to walk around the city and check out the various murals he'd installed around the city. The challenge in getting a shot of this mural was that it was put up around the lpk logo on the side of the building. However, once I saw the way I could work part of the logo into the mural instead of shooting around it, I knew exactly the shot I wanted. Taken in Cincinnati, OH.

Sadly, we missed the Shepard Fairey exhibit at the Cincinnati Contemporary Art Museum by one day. Seriously, one day.

However, we did take some time to walk around the city and check out the various murals he'd installed around the city. We found this one in an alley behind a restaurant and one of the employees had parked their bike in front of it. One of the workers, who was on a smoke break, asked my wife and I if we wanted him to move the bike so we could get "better" pictures. lol...we laughed and asked him to leave it. Loved the way it interacted with the mural. Cincinnati, OH.

My sincere apologies for the absence of comments and photos over the last two weeks. However, there is a great bit of news to share. I was asked by ArtPrize to contribute photos to their blog. This really is a great honor. I’ve had a blast seeing as many pieces as I can, but it has meant some time away from Flickr. With that said, this is one of the photos I submitted to the blog. The blog post can be found here .

So sorry for the delay in commenting on photos. I really do wish the past few weeks had been spent "Chillin' Out," but, alas, I've been very busy with school (graded over 150 essay and rewrote portions of our high school English curriculum). That said, I'm going to do my best to catch up on my contacts. I hope everybody is doing well. Cheers!

The opening page of an American Literature textbook from the 1950's. I actually use a more recent version of this same textbook with my students. However, this introduction has been replaced, which I find quite unfortunate as this question would lend itself to a great discussion that is sure to elicit a variety of answers.
