Most horrible maths work ever.

This picture looks like it belongs in a math or a spelling book from elementary school.

Here I am imagining all the different ways I will apply my new knowledge. It's way more gratifying than the math books are. When Walmart finds out I know Algebra, it's in the bag.

More than 30 elementary students in kindergarten through second grade recently explored math through art, physical activity and music as part of BU’s annual Math Camp, which also helped participating education majors learn fundamental themes for math learners.

It’s a collaborative benefit, according to Frank D’Angelo, assistant professor of early childhood and adolescent education, who says through the math camp BU’s education program is helping local elementary students get ready for the new school year. bloomu.edu/news-math-camp

Stewart Emery grew up in an active musical family and spent his high school years in upstate New York where he first became involved in the local music scene. He started his music career as an already trained percussionist, moved on to bass guitar, guitar and lastly vocals in a series of bands until finally losing interest with the punk and metal scene around early 2005. His main focus had been, however, writing music for all the instruments involved.

In late 2005 Stewart formed a band with Mike Porcelli called Weapons of Math Instruction which was his first attempt at electronic music but with absolutely no knowledge of the psytrance scene, or any other type of dance music. Evidence of Weapons of Math Instruction lingers on the internet still at this address (www.myspace.com/weaponsofmathinstruction). At this point he was helping produce the tracks, performing vocals and becoming very interested in the piano.

Between 2005 and 2008, Stewart spent nearly two years living in various forests and traveling around the east coast learning of his spirit while continuing to play and write music on any acoustic guitar, piano or hand drums along the way. By 2008, the power of psytrance had traveled the long road to Birmingham, Alabama where they met Stewart’s ears and mind and chose his path as a producer of psytrance in its various forms. In early 2009, Math Dealer was formed.

Currently as Math Dealer(Psytrance/Experimental), Stewart is trying to blend as much of the organic world with the electronic and the metaphysical. He is playing out of Florida with the ambition to play larger festivals all over the world.
