This is my ink (left) and my moms ink (right).

My mom is sixty-years young and this is her first and only tattoo. I am still sort of shocked that she was so brave.

Our breast cancer story begins like this:

My father passed away in December of 1991 and by January of 1992, my mom found out that she had breast cancer. The doctors did a complete mastectomy of her left breast, after the surgery she underwent chemo. A few years later the cancer came back again on her chest wall of her left side. This time we endured radiation, which with radiation came the burns. A few years later she underwent surgery again, only this time it was for uterine cancer. The doctors performed a complete hysterectomy, which mom took quite well as she was already thrown into menopause when she had the chemo. However, she did spend two months in the hospital, due to post surgery complications.

My mother does have two other children, my brother who is 10 years older than me and my sister, who is seven years older than me (both have the same father but different than mine, so that makes them half). Although I am not an only child, I am the baby. When my mother want through surgeries, chemo, radiation & complications, it was just the two of us, and although sometimes we may have wanted to strangle eachother, we always knew that it was just us and strength is sometimes found in struggle and challenge.

Nuff Said...LOL

I miss feeling complete.

same tattoo size but different feet size

This photo wasn't taken in the Twin Cities, but we're both from there, and these tattoos are heavy on the Midwestern nostalgia tip.

Here they are done. =]

We are both soooo happy to have gotten them done together but unfortunately, the guy carved us up! Both of our tattoos became infected after the fact and we are both going to have to get them re-done. Luck of the draw! My tattoo artist said we had our first (and I will make sure it was my last!) experience with a scratcher and thats why I won't be plugging the shop.

A commemorative shadow box created by Lori Blackmar, displaying the two Lucky Devil Circus Sideshow thongs worn during the double human blockhead act performed by Tyler Fyre and Magic Brian at Sideshow Gathering 2010, along with a documentary photograph in the form of a cabinet card by James G. Mundie. The blockhead act culminated with Tyler and Brian dropping their pants to display and bump together the matching tattoos of flaming moonshine on their bums. The thongs served for modesty and comedy purposes.

This item was part of the Saturday night auction at the 10th Annual Sideshow Gathering, Wilkes-Barre PA.

4 on one leg, 2 on this leg.

My best friend and I have matching tattoos. We're also roommates. There's actually a third with the same tattoo, but she's on the other side of the country now. We randomly decided to get these in the midst of our totally spontaneous trip to Philly last May.

Rules:

Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 15 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you.

1. My best friend and I have matching tattoos on our ankles.

2. I love westerns, black and white movies and old tv sitcoms. Cool Hand Luke, Quick and the Dead, Gone With the Wind...All In the Family, Twilight Zone...love them. I own every season of AITF on DVD.

3. My self-confidence is almost non-existent. I'm hard on myself, and I don't know why.

4. My family is like no other. They are everything to me. We don't remain extremely close, but there is nothing I wouldn't do for them. My mom and my grandma are my very best friends though.

5. I have issues on the lack of grandfathers in my life. I'm mad that I never got to meet my Grandpa A. and I've battled it my entire life. I'm mad that my Grandpa E. was taken away from me so early, and there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of them.

6. I hate birds. HATE HATE HATE. But I love chickens.

7. If I could quit work and farm the rest of my life and make it, I would. You know people say that if they hit the lottery, they would still work? You're out of your mind...

8. I absolutely HATE talking on the phone. HATE it. I would text all day long, but I won't talk.

9. I'm a MAJOR clutz. I'm really surprised I've never broken a bone.

10. I used to have a serious obsession with shampoo. I still do a little bit but not nearly as much. I used to buy a bottle of shampoo/conditioner at LEAST once a week.

11. I have a scar on my knee from a bicycle wreck in 3rd grade. I hope it always stays there. I also stepped on a nail in 3rd grade and ran it almost completely through my foot. Tough year.

12. I am into family history and have traced my roots back to the 900s and also royalty.

13. A lot of people try to short me because I was the baby. They don't realize the things I'm capable of. How I can cook, how I can clean, etc. and usually don't try because I don't get credit.

14. I'm not a girly-girl and I never have been. I am a jeans/hoodie/t-shirt kinda girl.

15. I am a little obsessive with handwriting. I always look at people's handwriting.
