A cold, overcast Saturday at the Riverside Stadium. I wanted to capture the "flat" feel of a Teesside January—where the sky and the water seem to merge into one grey veil. There’s something uniquely North East about the way the stadium’s structural steel sits against this kind of weather. No filters needed for the mood, just the raw, dreary atmosphere of matchday in mid-winter.
The "dreary" weather certainly didn't reflect the performance on the pitch! Middlesbrough hosted Preston North End in an EFL Championship clash and gave the home fans plenty to cheer about.
Final Score: Middlesbrough 4 – 0 Preston North End
It was a dominant display from Boro, who were sitting 2nd in the table at the time. Despite the 12:30 PM early kick-off and the biting cold, the stadium was buzzing as they dismantled "The Lilywhites."
Significance: This win was part of a crucial January run that kept Boro firmly in the hunt for automatic promotion.
