This picture I've posted elsewhere on this blog. What you're seeing is a garbage dump wherein people both live and work. To the center left is a garbage picker, a pepenador, sifting through scrap material for resale. Copper, cans and steel, for example, are precious commodities in the junk harvesting business.

At first glance, you can't see the picker. He's lost in a haze of chemical smoke, the result of years of illegal dumping by local maquiladora factories.
