I very nearly missed this butterfly, as it merged so well into the background.

When you see it up close like this, it really is such a beautiful insect.

Seen in Explore December 9, 2010. Highest position #421. Thanks everyone!!! :-)

An old clock owned by my son's God father. This is probably at least 20 years old, but believe it or not, it is still working. ;)

Thanks for your visit, comments, and faves!

Have a great day my friends! :)

This is the bottom end of the Master Lock Magnum Padlock. With a name like Magnum you know its got to be tough. The body width is 1-3/4 inches, 1-1/2 inches of which is in frame.

Strobist/technical info:

The lock was placed in a 24'' x 24" light box with black velvet-textured fabric as a backdrop. Two Nikon SB900 speedlights were placed laterally 90-degress CR and CL and aimed up at a 30-degree angle. The speedlight CL was fired bare through the light box in Manual mode @ 1⁄8 power. The speedlight CR was also bare and in Manual mode, fired @ 1⁄16 power. A third speedlight, a Nikon SB700 with a Gary Fong 5th Gen Lightsphere attached was placed 20-degrees CL and 8" behind the camera position. It was used as fill light and was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄128 power. An 8"x10" white foam board was placed directly below and in front of the lens for added bounce. The blue LED of a Coast TX10 Quad Color flashlight was shone during exposure for blue highlights. It was placed 6" directly above the camera and pointed down at the subject at a 45-degree angle.

The SB900's were triggered by three PocketWizard Plus X 's; the SB700 was placed in SU-4 mode and triggered by the other flashes.

Last night was a sleep-deprived, fun, long, exhausting, wonderful night spend out in the beauty of the Yellowknife area chasing stars, aurora, and dreams with good friends Paul Zizka Photography and Robbie Craig's Northern Projects

"The Lights" made a few fickle appearances but it was this capture of Paul earlier in the night that caught my attention. Paul's known around the globe for his night/aurora work and it was fun having the chance to capture him at play.

Final sleep time: 6:15AM.

ISO 1600, f/11, 20-second exposure.

This otter was very successful Saturday morning; it caught at least 6 fish, probably more, while I and others watched.

Sunday we had incredible dinner as we celebrated my Goddaughters and nieces birthday, their Father is a Chef at the Essex by Central park, we had fantastic spread before dinner, the main course was incredible!

The Watermelon radish, also known as Rooseheart or Red Meat, is an heirloom Chinese Daikon radish.

Few other items that you don't see often in a salad, like Japanese black Radish Lollipop kale or goat cheese fritters,

sprinkled with an incredibly tasting dressing.

These cuttlefish are the masters of disguise are some of the most curious creatures of the sea.

They also mimic the shape and texture of objects around them to better hide.

Could it be that we are surrounded

by masters in the form of plants,

animals and minerals, deserving our

deepest gratitude and respect, who

with silent stillness, which we call

meditation, exemplify transcendence

in service to the One beyond attributes

by sacrificing even their presence to

teach, nourish and protect us?

Last mothers day I posted a photo of 3 newborn kittens. I thought I would give a small update on they're progress. This is Yoda he was the last born and what a character he is. He is a male with the longest fur I've ever seen on a cat. His fur actually grows in two levels, The first is closer to his body and the second is a very thin Aura type fur that is 2 inches longer than his body fur. We named him Yoda because when he was bottle feeding his little ears would wiggle. :) I was really bored yesterday and was watching them hunt each other in the overgrown grass in my backyard. I have let the grass over grow because these 2 just love playing in it, hunting flies and each other, that I don't have the heart to cut it, they have so much fun in it. :) I liked this shot because I can see myself in his eye. Is that vanity or just the fact that I managed to get his eye in focus for the first time. :)

Please leave a comment if you like this photo and thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great day everyone :)

A Brown-capped Pygmy Woodpecker (Dendrocopos nanus) after a prolonged search at broken twigs finally investigated out the victim, a caterpillar from the swollen perch. One master to tame them all. Don't get in his way, or the will deafen you with the power of a hundred bells!

Built for Brickscalibur Faction Action category.

For generations the Dragon Masters have ruled over the land. Their mastery of taming and riding dragons leaves them with little competition for dominance throughout the realm.

Left to Right:

Tristen: A knight of the Dragon Masters. His sword, carved from the claw of an ancient dragon, has been handed down to him by his father. Throughout the kingdom Tristen is known for defending justice.

Wizard's Guard Left: Also known as Hubert, he is tasked with guarding the local druid.

The Druid: A brewer of potions known to help calm particularly unruly dragons. His special recipes must never fall into enemy hands. For if they did others might also be able to tame dragons.

Wizard Guard Right: Also known as Carl, he believes he does a better job at guarding the Druid than Albert.

Bruce the Mighty: Wielding a flail he protects the borders of his kingdom with vigor.

William: Bruce's best friend. He prefers to fight with a more traditional sword, but also likes a little flash and style. The ruby's set in his sword's grip have distracted many an unlucky foe.

Lord's Guard Left: Known to be a little exuberant at his job, the Lord Dragon Master sometimes has to tell him to tone it down a bit.

The Lord Dragon Master: Every great kingdom is led by a great ruler. Broderic the Bold has led the Dragon Masters for 20 years. Under his reign the kingdom has seen unprecedented prosperity.

Lord's Guard Right: Also known as Wilbert, he strives to do his job but not outshine the brilliance of his Lord.

Hugh: Famed archer of the Dragon Masters. If ever another nation were to learn how to fly dragons, Hugh would be the one they call to shoot them down.

Albert: The Druid's apprentice, Albert loves to experiment with fire. He has learned the art of crafting balls of fire into the shape of dragons. Dragon-balls, if you will.

In honor of "The Last Jedi" being announced, I threw together an aging Luke Skywalker and an impressionable Ben Solo, who have just finished taking down one of the remaining Imperial Cells in the galaxy.

With all of the recent SW comics Marvel has been releasing, I think it would be a cool idea to have a miniseries, if not a full novel, detailing what has gone down in the last 30 years. Showing us Luke and Ben's relationship, and introducing us into the Jedi academy they established.

Their outfits were also slightly inspired by the amazing art from Venamis.

I know it doesn't look like I've made much progress for having an entire free day to do it, but it's been a very frustrating build experience. I actually built those segments that loop under the armpits, only to find that I didn't make the loop exaggerated enough, and whenever I rested my arms by my sides, they broke under the pressure. Also, things just started to fall apart in general, such as a the entire bottom of the backpack, and the joints between the front and back of the suit also started cracking, so I had to resort to some extreme measures that I am ashamed of: I used glue, LOTS of glue, and so far it's worked pretty well. But I guess I can't do a good balance of aesthetics and durability. Well, you should DEFINiTELY expect this to be done by tomorrow. I swear.
