Maruti 800 in Budapest, Hungary.
The Maruti 800 was essentially a 2nd generation Suzuki Alto, produced by Maruti Suzuki, a company jointly owned by Suzuki and the Indian Government. My new GF (MH12 GF ####). She was longing for a shoot for a long time, and here she brought into spotlight at Mulashi, Lake49
I had to get a snap of this. This is, I believe, a Japanese built Alto with the 796cc engine. These seemed to have disappeared from Suzuki dealers in the UK, leaving the curvy Swift 1.0 to fill the budget city car void.
A new Alto 1000cc, which looked like an evolution of this one, was sold from 1997 or thereabouts but they were the Indian built Maruti versions. A local Suzuki dealers were selling pre-registered versions of them for £2000 below list price at £5k.
