A sunrise over the hills of the Marshall Mesa open space area in Boulder, Colorado.

 

Unfortunately, this area was destroyed a few weeks after this image was taken by the Marshall Wildfire.

Blue hour at Marshall Point Light in Port Clyde, Maine, with color removed.

 

The current lighthouse was built in 1858, and following a lightning strike to the original, the current keeper's house was built in 1895.

Built in 1832 at the end of the St. George Peninsula to assist boats in Port Clyde Harbor, Maine. Also featured in Forrest Gump as the lighthouse where he finished his cross-country run.

Predawn at Marshall\'s Beach (with Dennis Stanworth ).

There is barely any time where I leave the house without carrying around a pair of headphones.

Field-Marshall is a brand of farm tractor which was manufactured by Marshall, Sons & Co. of Gainsborough, Lincolnshire in the United Kingdom. Field-Marshalls were in production from 1945 to 1957. Diving between pools of sunshine and shade, BNSF train No. 17 glides westward through Marshall, Washington along Cheney-Spokane Road the afternoon of Sept. 14, 1996.

An colorful mix of EMD and GE locomotives pull Burlington Northern train No. 207, a Northtown, Minnesota to Pasco, Washington manifest freight. The 114-car behemoth is passing Scribner siding in Marshall Creek Canyon, about 10 miles west of Spokane, Washington the afternoon of Sept. 14, 1996.

 

The pathway to the right of BN 7191 is the former UP-Milwaukee Road right of way. Across the canyon is the former SP&S main line.

Empties off the Lancaster & Chester make a rare return run west along the AS line at Marshall, NC along the French Broad river on a beautiful Spring afternoon.

Marshall Point light sits on a rocky point at the entrance to Port Clyde Harbor, Maine. The fog was very heavy. There were working lobster boats very close but could not be seen until the fog lifted some. They were probably within 200 feet of the point.

She loved the sea.

 

She liked the sharp salty smell of the air,

and the vastness of the horizons bounded only by a vault

of azure sky above.

It made her feel small, but free as well.

Forty years ago, MP train DFZ is topping the short hill departing Marshall, TX. A common sight of this time was seeing the r-o-w cleared for the installation of fiber optic cable.

 

4-4-1985

Perhaps best known today from the 1994 Paramount film "Forrest Gump," the Marshall Point Light was established in 1832. The current structure was built in 1857 and marks the entrance to Port Clyde, Maine. It is still an active aid to navigation. The lighthouse was automated in 1980.
