Anton really gets into these almost balletic moves after marking spots on our walk. He is on Pred every other day, and then none. I am hoping he continues to be fine. Firefighter marking important places in the landscape (2012)

Tarnya Kruger's background in education and natural resource management (NRM) is set against a zest for the outdoors, and since childhood she has been in the search for the roundest stone!

Tarnya began her career teaching secondary school geography and environmental science, and then worked in a range of NRM programs including Waterwatch and Landcare.

Whilst at NRE and DPI/DSE, Tarnya was involved in summer fire emergency response duties.

Tarnya’s PhD is in the area of bushfires, people and landscapes, focusing on volunteer firefighters and the social and ecological memory of place; supported by the Bushfire Co-operative Research Centre.

My grandfather wrote on the back of the photograph naming his little friend, Maria, in the picture and where it was taken, but, disappointingly, no date.

October 7th, 2023 was a day of profound loss, as Hamas launched a brutal attack on Israel—taking lives, tearing families apart, and shaking communities worldwide. Two years later, our sorrow remains—but so does our unbreakable spirit.

This year’s commemoration invited us to honor, support one another, and uplift our spirits. We first gathered as a group to remember, next we explored personal approaches of reconciliation through music, poetry, storytelling, text study, and meditation.

Finally, we gathered as one in the Community Hall—sharing our experiences, finding strength in one another, and affirming the enduring resilience of the Jewish people. It was an afternoon of hope, unity, and reflection.
