“Built as a PR.XIX with a Griffon 66 engine at Supermarine Aviation(Vickers) Ltd. in 1944 and given production prototype engine mount modifications on 29 November 1944, arriving at 6 Maintenance Unit on 9 April 1945. She was moved to RAF Benson (PRU) for storage on 30 April 1945. PS890 joined 542 Squadron on 13 June 1945 followed by 81 Squadron at Seletar, Singapore on 22 January 1951. She was transferred to The Royal Thai Air Force as U14-26/97 on 3 June 1954. In 1962 she was donated by King Bhumibel of Siam to Ed Maloney of the Air Museum at Claremont, California, U.S.A. and put into storage. During a rebuild PS890 was fitted with a Shackleton engine and retained contra-rotating propellers flying again in May 2002 and operated by Planes of Fame, Chino. In 2005 Christophe Jacquard acquired her and based her in Dijon-Darois, France.”

Seen here at RAF Waddington airshow wearing FX tail code of 25 Squadron this Tornado F3 had previous worn special XI(F) Squadron markings and after 25 Squadron disbanded took up 43(F) Squdron special markings. Now preserved at RAF museum Hendon with 43(F) Squadron tail.

I'm constantly astonished at the variations in markings of this species, it varies so much, not only between adult specimens but between the various instars.

In trying to see the manufacturer's markings on the Jack Skellington LE doll, I pulled down his topcoat to view his chest and back. His cloth shirt is stuffed with cotton, and is not removable, so I looked elsewhere for the markings. It turns out they were on the inside of the tail of his topcoat.

Limited Edition Jack Skellington 18'' Doll

US Disney Store

Released September 2011

Jack Skellington from the stop motion animated feature The Nightmare Before Christmas, is a Limited Edition doll released by the Disney Store in September 2011. Sally was also released at the same time. He is listed as 18'' tall, but actually Jack is 16'' tall from the bottom of shoes to the top of head. He is made of resin and metal, and have jointed neck, shoulder, elbow, hip and knees. He has a large plastic bat bow tie attached to his body just below his neck. He has cloth top coat, pants and shirt. They are not removable, as they can't go past his feet and hands. He comes inside a coffin shaped cardboard box, resting in a styrofoam bed, with red satin lining and clear plastic viewing window. Also included is a custom metal and resin stands. He is a very accurate representation of the character from the movie.

I discovered these markings on the wall of an underpass that had been flooded. Numerous snails were present on the concrete walls and, presumably, made the snail trails seen here.

On 6 October 2018, the De Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth II N935NL 'RAF T-9354' was seen near its hangar at Hoogeveen airfield. This airframe with s/n 86378 / NL-935 was built under license by Morris Motors Ltd at Cowley, Oxford, UK, and entered service with the French Air Force (L'Armée de l'air française) as NL 935. About the history of this "Tigre Mou" in the French Air Force is nearly nothing known, but it seems that this airframe was operated by l'ecole de Pilotage de l 'armée de l'air GE-315 at Cognac, when it was withdrawn from military service. On 12 December 1952, the Tiger Moth was registered F-BGJJ in France as Tiger Moth DH 82 A s/n NL 953-59 with ETAT / Service de l'aviation Legere et Sportive / SAL, Paris. The Etat Tiger Moth F-BGJJ was powered by a 130 hp Gipsy Major I engine and operated by Ass. des A.C. de la Cote d'Emeraude at St.Servan. On 4 February 1972, registration F-BGJJ was cancelled as sold abroad. On 28 April 1972, the certificate of airworthiness was issued in the USA for the DH.82A Tiger Moth s/n NL953 as N935NL. On 27 January 1981, the Tiger Moth was registered N28680 with J.B. Mok, Flemington, NE. On 22 September 2009, registration N935NL was reserved by Egmond Aircraft, and on 17 December 2010, the aircraft was registered N935NL with Eastern Stearman Inc. Trustee, Virginia. On 9 July 2015, the N935NL was registered with Egmond Aircraft Llc, Delaware, and in 2016 the aircraft was shipped to its new home: Hoogeveen airfield in the Netherlands. However the aircraft is painted in R.A.F. T-9354 colors, it was never operated by the Royal Air Force.

Trail markings of 11 different hiking trails, one of them Dahner Felsenpfad (Dahn Rock Path) in Dahner Felsenland (Dahn Rockland) near Dahn in the Wasgau hill range, Pfälzerwald (Palatinate Forest), Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate), Germany.

This "sign tree" is standing near an inn called "Dahner Hütte – Im Schneiderfeld" (Dahn Lodge - In the taylor's field) which is operated by the local hiking club. Many hiking trails meet here.

Dahner Felsenpfad, the one we are hiking, is the fourth from top ;-)

Pfälzerwald is a low mountain range in the south-west of Germany. It is a designated nature park and part of the UNESCO biosphere reserve Palatinate Forest-North Vosges. It is famous for its bunter sandstone formations and its castles and is a popular hiking destination.

We found this tour on outdooractive.com.
