An old map of Mississippi during the American Civil War that was dated on January 17, 1863. I had found this map on a random Google image search.

"The Capital Crescent Trail (CCT) is a rail trail project running though the Northwest D.C. Area. On weekends, it is a VERY popular spot for local cyclists and rollerbladers. During weekdays, bike commuters use the CCT to travel between Downtown DC and the Northwest Suburbs.
The southern 7 miles between Georgetown and Bethesda has a 9-foot wide asphalt surface and is in excellent condition. The northern Georgetown Branch extension provides a crushed gravel surface for the final 4 miles between Bethesda and Silver Spring. The two trails are connected by a brand new tunnel located under downtown Bethesda."
I admit, I piggybacked on the wildly popular idea of using old maps in art and craft. I don't know who started it, but I like it. I have always loved maps, and spent just as much time reading my school atlas as I did my favorite novels.

From a series of maps prepared by Underwriters Survey Bureau Limited dated December 1924. These maps are paper on canvas and are approximatly 21" x 24". The map portfolio was donated to the Stayner Heritage Society by B. Wheeler & Sons Insurance who had received the maps to assist them in writing fire insurance with companies that were members of the Canadian Fire Underwriters Association.
This detail from Map #2, shows the location of the Cider Mill on Kingd Street North which was off the top left corner of that map. It is today, Reinhart Vinegars Limited, but the building on the map was preplaced by a modern structure after the original plant, built in the 1800s, was destroyed by fire in 1979.
I took the Roanoke Valley BUS Metro map and simplifed it down to resymble the New York City Subway Metro map.
It was fun and new for me. I found it funny how it's hard for me to symplify things but really easy to make things more complex. So i was stretched in that reguard.
I used mainly the pen tool and a few symbles. I liked having to tp use dashed lines.
