OJOJIHARA MANEUVER AREA, MIYAGI, Japan – Marines fire an M777A2 lightweight 155 mm howitzer at night June 10 during Artillery Relocation Training Program 14-1 at the Ojojihara Maneuver Area, Japan. During the exercise, artillery Marines trained in relocating artillery positions, artillery live-fire, small-arms weapons tactics and other sustainment events. Waterfalls, tunnels, abandoned structures; homemade tripods, natural waterslides, and a dangerous rotten log bridge… all with a dear friend I don't see nearly often enough.
The only thing that could have made the day any better would have been to have found my $500 prescription sunglasses lost somewhere on the trail. As Andrew put it, "We found ALMOST everything we were looking for today."
It was worth it though. I haven't been on an adventure like this in a decade and it's been sorely
missed.
The fall signals the coming of many things... Things that I don't dare to contemplate for the moment; at least not until a couple of week's time. But we're getting there...
