DUMBO (Down under the Manhattan Bridge overpass)

Brooklyn New York

Another from my walk over the Manhattan bridge, this one right when the sky was that perfect blue. Got a lot of keepers that day, but these two I've posted are my favorites.

The east end of the Manhattan Bridge (which crosses the East River just north of the fabled Brooklyn Bridge), framed by old brick buildings in Brooklyn’s ‘Dumbo’ neighborhood.

Dumbo? An acronym for ‘Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass’, which itself is the section of road on the near side of the bridge tower. Dumbo is a pretty cool neighborhood, but I’m not sure I could put up with the noise that the overpass generates.

Shot down by the Brooklyn Park at night. Many photographers were there that warm July evening. This is a composition of 8 pictures stitched together in the program "Microsoft image composer". Enjoy.

The Manhattan Bridge is a suspension bridge that crosses the East River in New York City, connecting Lower Manhattan at Canal Street with Downtown Brooklyn. The bridge designed by Leon Moisseiff and built in 1909. The bridge's total length is 6,855 ft (2,089 m).

Brooklyn anchorage tower of the Manhattan Bridge. To me the prettiest of the four East Rivers crossings.

Manhattan Bridge Arch, Bowery

A new high-rise, still under construction, reflects the sunset. The bridge over the East River is the Manhattan Bridge, linking Manhattan and Queens.

If you turn off the noise of the subway over the bridge and the crowds of tourists, then living here is pretty cool. Seen from the streets, parts of the bridges open up and this is quite a fabulous sight, especially at dusk.
