View of the West Side of Manhattan from Hamilton Park in Weehawken, NJ – the top panorama is taken near the beginning of the golden hour, the middle right before sunset, and the bottom at the peak of the blue hour. The sun was setting behind me. Near sunset, there are beautiful natural red colors in the light being projected on the Manhattan skyline.
The view spans from Columbus Circle around 59th on the far left to Madison Square Park at 23rd Street on the far right. The Chrysler Building can be seen between the buildings just to the right of the middle and the Empire State Building stands tall at 34th.

Each photo is a panorama stitched together from 13 portrait images in PTGUI (about 40% overlap, with extra room on the left and right). The original is about 24,000 pixels across.
Really Right Stuff TVC-33 tripod with a BH-55 ballhead. A high-end tripod like this makes a big difference given how windy it is in the park.
I took similar panoramas last year using a Canon 6D. I definitely notice the better dynamic range of the Sony A7R II in the original photos.
Another one of the view from my hotel room in New York four years ago. I could have sat looking at it all evening!
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

The name Manhattan derives from the word Manna-hata, as written in the 1609 logbook of Robert Juet, an officer on Henry Hudson's yacht Halve Maen (Half Moon). A 1610 map depicts the name as Manna-hata, twice, on both the west and east sides of the Mauritius River (later named the Hudson River). The word "Manhattan" has been translated as "island of many hills" from the Lenape language.
New York County is one of seven counties in the United States to share the same name as the state in which they are located. The others are Arkansas, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Oklahoma, and Utah counties.
The United States Postal Service prefers that mail addressed to Manhattan use "New York, NY" rather than "Manhattan, NY"

Manhattan Pier, Manhattan Beach, California.
Took this shot duing my trip to Southern California. Sky was kind of plain at sunset but this there was lot of water wave action around the pier.. Went under the pier, setup tripod and made several attempts to get the right shot.
Manhattan West is a new development on the west side of Manhattan as part of Hudson Yards. Here are a few interesting features that caught my eye one afternoon.
This thing is too much fun. I'm glad sensor size has finally caught up to my needs (and for a reasonable price). Manhattan Beach Pier during the King Tides last week. Mavic 3 sky-high straight down. I'm not sure I agree with the "top-down" label these types of pics get. It's not the top. There's definitely more above me. I prefer look-down. But then again, I don't get to decide what things are called. I sound like a Boomer. But I'm not. I swear.
A four-second exposure just after sunset as the lights have all come on in Lower Manhattan and the last clouds of a passing storm help divide the last light of day from the coming night.

On this day we drove into Manhattan to meet my daughter, who lives in Florida, to look for her wedding dress....
Such a gross day... fog, clouds and drizzle the entire day...
but she did say YES to a dress and I had fun snapping random shots the entire day!!!
Before I set out on my photo-run from the Central Park area, I had a goal in mind to make it to Dumbo, Brooklyn for this iconic shot of the Manhattan Bridge with the Empire State Building centered below the bridge's tower. I prefer discovering my own compositions as opposed to capturing the famous ones, but I couldn't resist this shot, as the way the bridge, building and street all come together to form this view is pretty unbelievable.

Van 10 en en met 16 september zat ik in New York. Op de laatste avond was de lucht het mooist. Een beter afscheid van de stad kon ik mij niet wensen.
Manhattan Icons
From September 10 to 16, I was in New York. On the last night, the sky was at its prettiest. I couldn't have asked for a better farewell to the city.
