After the blue hour we waited until it was completely dark. Then I made another long exposure, where I zoomed a little more into the Manhattan skyline since the sky was almost black.
Mid and lower Manhattan as seen from the Empire State Building. To the left of the photo is Brooklyn and the Verrazano Bridge can be seen in the distance, connecting Brooklyn and Staten Island and to the right of the photo is Jersey City. The Statue of Liberty can be seen standing tall between New Jersey and New York.

On their way east, the ML stopped to pick up a sizeable cut of 1980s-era double-stack cars out of the short siding at Manhattan. Conductor indicated they were headed for the torch, which unfortunately is the likely fate for these classic searchlight signals soon as well.
This in-camera multi-exposure photograph was taken in May 2024 during my first visit to New York this century. I was last there 30 years ago. I had not been there before with my partner, Andy. May 2024 was the month of our 25th anniversary and this trip was our way to celebrate.

Taken from Brooklyn Bridge Park. It was very windy, which made it difficult to photograph, even with a tripod, but produced great patterns in the sky.
