Scanned from a tiny print of an oil painting by wildlife artist, Manfred Schatz (1925 - 2004). I just love this image. Thought Nancy might, too, though it is far from Peter Rabbit!
My 2nd Husband, a handsome German landscaper, who was with me for 5 years, in Germany and then Atlanta, GA!
He was my muse, and I let him go much too easily!
Czech postcard by Pressfoto, no S 12/12, 1964. Photo: Zdenek Havelka. Manfred Schnelldorfer becoming Olympic champion in 1964 at the IX Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck.
Former German Schlager singer and actor Manfred Schnelldorfer (1943) started out as a figure skater, and was a World and Olympic champion. Schnelldorfer won his first competition at age eight. The highlight of his career was becoming Olympic champion in 1964 in Innsbruck. In all, Schnelldorfer was an eight-time German champion, one-time World champion (1964), three-time bronze and two-time silver medalist at the Europeans. After his amateur career he turned professional and worked with an ice show for four years.
During the 1960s, Manfred Schnelldorfer also was a Schlagersänger and actor. He sang and acted in light entertainment films like Holiday in St. Tropez (Ernst Hofbauer, 1964), Ein Ferienbett mit 100 PS (Wolfgang Becker, 1965) and Spukschloß im Salzkammergut (Hans Billian, Rolf Olsen, 1966). After that he became a coach and sport teacher. He was the first West German national coach for figure skating between 1974 and 1981. He lives in Munich and owns some sport shops. He is married and has two children.
