The building manager/courtesy officer is doing a real crappy-ass job. Yesterday these people living in the floor below me had loud music with heavy bass and wouldn't turn it down until I had to get out on the balcony and yell at them. And now, at 5:40 AM, the fire alarm has been going on for over half an hour. What the hell is this dead-beat doing. It's pissing me off.
Sir John Hare (16 May 1844 – 28 December 1921), born John Fairs, was an English actor and manager of the Garrick Theatre in London from 1889 to 1895
Hare was born in Giggleswick in Yorkshire and was educated at Giggleswick School. He made his first appearance on the stage at Liverpool in 1864, coming to London in 1865, and acting for ten years with the Bancrofts at the Prince of Wales's Theatre. He soon built a reputation, particularly in T. W. Robertson's comedies, and in 1875 became manager of the Court Theatre. He was also a founder and first Shepherd of The Lambs.
In association with Mr. and Mrs. William Hunter Kendal at the St. James's Theatre from 1879 to 1888, Hare established his popularity in London in important character and men of the world parts. The joint management of Hare and Kendal made this theatre one of the chief centers of the dramatic world for a decade. In 1889 he became lessee and manager of the Garrick Theatre, built by his friend W. S. Gilbert, where (though he was often out of the cast) he produced several important plays, such as Pinero's The Profligate and The Notorious Mrs Ebbsmith, and had a remarkable personal success in the chief part in Sydney Grundy's A Pair of Spectacles. In 1897 he took the Globe Theatre, where his acting in Pinero's Gay Lord Quex was another personal triumph. He became almost as well known in the United States as in England, his last tour in America being in 1900 and 1901.
Hare was knighted in 1907. He retired from the stage by 1912, but appeared in two films a few years later, including The Vicar of Wakefield and the film A Pair of Spectacles, both in 1916.
He died in 1921, aged 77.

Under the theme "Bridging Your Opportunities" members of the Michigan Local Government Management Association had the organization's annual Winter Institute in Port Huron Feb. 2-5, 2016. The theme of the event was especially fitting as the conference took place in Port Huron at the base of the Blue Water Bridge to Canada. It was an amazing setting for an excellent conference. Seminar session topics included marketing your community, making clean energy work, regional collaboration, the pursuit of ethical organizational culture, essential coaching skills and tools, project management, executive level stress management and wellness in the workplace, being the change in civic engagement, municipal financing and bonding, and placemaking partnerships. Keynote speakers were Dave Lorenz of Pure Michigan; Daryl Delabbio, Kent County Administrator; Surry Scheerer, executive coach and leadership trainer; Ali Payne, area vice president and wellness practice leader for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.; Josh McManus of Rock Ventures; and Samantha Harkins, Chris Hackbarth and John LaMacchia III of the Michigan Municipal League.Event sponsors were Baird, ICMA-RC, Hutchinson Shockey Erley Co., American Fidelity Assurance Co.; Cornerstone Municipal, Fletcher Fealko Shoudy and Francis, Bloom Sluggert and MOrgan, FRC&H, AEW, Bendzinski and Co., DTE Energy, SEMCO Energy Gas Co., Miller Canfield law firm and Rizzo Environmental Services. In addition, there was also a special tribute, including a bagpipe-led color guard, at the start of the Conference for Rockford City Manager Michael Young, who passed away suddenly the week before the conference. Young was the current MLGMA President and this would have been his final week as the leader of the association as his one-year term was coming to an end. A scholarship for Young, 48, has been established and donations can be made to www.gvsu.edu/giving/michaelyoung. Learn more about MLGMA at MLGMA.org.
