Every fall, we get to witness the hierarchy of bucks in the area. This guy is second in line. Unlike the younger males that run from the head honcho when he even looks at them, this one is up for the challenge.

I was framing this color filled scene with that man up on the scaffold trying to get everything in check when the other man in his dapper orange sweat shirt comes strolling in through that back door.... pick your center, frame, wait, wait, 3 - 2 -1 - click !!!!!
SOOC - I was tempted to crop out that foreground ceiling, but decided to use it to bring depth and guide the eyes inward.

Now this the the old school way to wash windows, i found this guy when looking up whilst walking around Chicago he must have of been 30 stories up, just sitting on a plank of wood!
This is a lesson in looking around you whilst out as you never know what is above you!

On the radio the other day there was a section on the difficulties of working from your cold home during lockdown!! Couldn't quite believe how this ludicrous subject had been given air space but there you go. You'd think that people would not only be happy to be alive, but also be pretty damn pleased to be able to work, whether from home or not. Well apparently not. This new world of whingers, were phoning in to share ways to keep themselves warm whilst sat at the computer screen in their terribly cold houses. It's surely not rocket science is it and it's not too difficult to work out that if you put more clothes on you'll be warmer. What about the people who work outdoors day in day out in all weathers?! After a while, I calmed myself down before bursting a blood vessel, whilst comparing the attitudes of people today from those of the good old days. Am I being insensitive for thinking that the majority just need to grow a pair!! When our brave heroes went off to war, they weren't able to think about home comforts, they just had to get on with it. They suffered, without whining. You can also be sure, that when the brave souls, lucky enough to return home finally did, they didn't even have the option of central heating and more than likely gathered round the stove with the rest of the family in the kitchen. I remembered them on Sunday, I remembered them today and I will always remember how lucky I am.

Yesterday we had full fibre broadband fitted.
Very pleased with the new speeds
Our previous speeds from normal broadband were around 28 Mb/s (at good times) now we’re getting miles faster at around 139 Mb/s. Over 100 Mb/s faster.
We could never get cable where we are, it wouldn’t be worth it for the cable companies.
We’re quite some way from@m the exchange box too… the end of line, so I never held much hope of having a super fast connection.
EE our broadband and mobile phone network provider messaged me and asked if I’d like free installation and price fix until April 2026.
The three workers were brilliant and a credit to their company. They were careful about asking us exactly where we wanted the connection to the house etc.
Very polite, efficient, and professional.
These days we tend to stream a lot of the series and films that we watch.

Once upon a time, there was a little white stray cat who lived in a Bus Depot. Life was pretty tough for this little cat; food was scarce and to start with at least, it was hard to find somewhere warm and dry to sleep – especially during the long, cold wet winter nights. However, the cat had used some initiative, and had taken to crawling up into the engine bays of the big buses. It was a bit smelly, and his white fur often ended up black and greasy, but – well – beggars can’t be choosers, and he was (after all) a beggar!
And then sometime last year, Life suddenly took a turn for the better for the little cat. The kindly man who was the Yardman for the Depot started leaving a bowl of food and a bowl of water near the fuel pump... The cat couldn’t believe his luck, and before long, he was happy for the man to scratch his ears! – which was a big step forward for the cat, for this was his first experience of Human Kindness!
After six weeks or so of regular meals, the little white (and at times partly black!) cat took to sitting near the Depot door, looking longingly inside. He was dying to find out what was on the other side of the door, but to go inside was a potentially scary move. After all, he might end up being trapped in there with a lot of angry Humans. But finally, one afternoon just as a Driver entered the Depot building, the cat seized the moment, and raced through the rapidly closing door...
As it turned out, it was a bit of an anti-climax. The world never ended, nothing untoward happened, nobody shouted at him – and in fact nobody really took much notice of him at all. But there was an old couch near the foot of a stairwell, and that couch looked Comfortable... Within minutes, he was fast asleep, curled up in a tight little ball of fur. In the middle of his sleep, he thought he heard voices, even thought he might have been touched by more than one person, but he was just too tired to worry, and he slept on!
Late in the afternoon, he awoke with a start. Voices were indeed close by; what should he do? Opening one eye, he surveyed the scene. There was nothing alarming to be seen – in fact the scene that filled his eye took him by surprise: someone was placing a plate of food on the couch beside him, and someone else had already placed a fresh dish of... milk?!? Suddenly, someone else was scratching his ears, and in spite of his uncertainty, he had to turn his Purr Motor on; he’d never, ever been patted like this ever before...
And so a routine developed; the little cat would sneak into the ground floor of the building during the day, and he’d sleep outside during the night – but even that wasn’t too bad now because one of the Mechanics had built him a little house to sleep in. However, there was still something that puzzled this curious little feline: what was up those stairs???
One day – and now no-one is quite sure when that was – the cat took the plunge: he raced quickly up the stairs, had a quick look... and raced back down again. He’d survived...! And so he tried again the next day, and the next – each time getting a little bolder, each time staying at the top of the stairs for a little longer... until, early one cold Spring morning, he followed an important-looking man up the steps and through a door into a room filled with a warmth that the he’d never ever experienced before! He didn’t know it at the time, but he’d just walked into the Team Leader’s office, and there – over against the wall – was a nice warm “Thingee” glowing red hot and giving out warmth – lovely, lovely warmth!
The cat slunk into a corner of the room and tried to stay out of sight, but he watched with interest the many comings and goings. One thing especially struck him (Figuratively speaking!): everyone seemed so nice. No-one was yelling; no-one was angry... After a while, he slunk out of the room and raced back down the stairs, but he was quite pleased with himself; he’d discovered what was up the stairs, he’d liked what he’d seen, and he hadn’t been chased or hit... He’d certainly pay another visit the next day...!
And so the very next morning, the cat once again carefully entered the office – and there in front of the warm machine was what looked like a nice white fluffy bed – all nicely stretched out... and the man was calling him over to it... The cat decided that the risks weren’t that great now, so he succumbed to temptation, stretched out in front of the warm heat, and quickly fell fast asleep... Somewhere in the middle of his slumbers, he thought he heard a new voice suggest that he should be called "Diesel", but he wasn’t sure if the voice was for real, or whether it was a dream, so he slumbered onwards...
Which brings us forward to today...
Today, this little white stray has indeed been named “Diesel”, and he still mostly sleeps on the comfy sheepskin in front of the heater, but every now and again, he curls up on the desk behind the Team Leader’s computer (Above); it just saves people having to bend down to stroke him! And when the Team Leader leaves in the middle of the afternoon, Diesel quietly ambles into the Driver’s Room and makes himself at home in a nice big comfortable armchair – directly below the wall-mounted heat pump!
So Life for little Diesel has never been so good now; he knows he's loved, and he's feeling pretty good about himself. But - and here's where things took a totally unexpected turn - a busy Bus Depot now has a warm fuzzy atmosphere that it never had before, and it's only got this atmosphere because it's been lucky enough to have been adopted by a once homeless, nameless, grease-smeared little stray cat...!
What a difference a little bit of Love makes!
no muscles required
just a strong constitution
and backbone - and bullshit filter
also a good sense of humour
and appreciation for how absurd
life can be.

The blue-eyed goddess was modeling the gold 45 revolver gold'n'virtue bikini with the famous golden gun/colt 45 revolver from my favorite film--Sergio Leone's and Clint Eastwood's "Fistful of Dollars!"
Combine the shallow-depth-of-field with Sony NEX-6's latest face-tracking auto focus, and you can see how the moving video keeps the model's pretty blue eyes in focus, while blurring the background! The Sony Alpha NEX 6 has much better bokeh than the cameras I have been using! :)
She was tall, thin, fit, toned, defined, and beautiful!

Jedi mind tricks
If you google Dubai, pictures of The Burj Al Arab pop up first and It’s no wonder why. Look at that thing! It’s shaped like a freakin sailboat! -- And did I forget to mention that it’s a 7 star hotel? And why is that fact pertinent to this picture?
Well, since 7 star hotels are a wee bit out of my budget, this is about as close as I could get to it... ;) Seriously, I tried to get into the (much closer & adjacent) Jumeirah Beach Hotel but they wouldn’t let me stalk around with my camera. Awe shucks guys... Really?
Anyway, it’s important to note at this point that I did NOT use the words, “Awe shucks.” Instead, like I usually do, I tried to charm (lie) my way in. When that didn't work, I of course thanked the security guard, said goodbye, disappeared around the nearest corner, and tried to sneak in another way. After some (self proclaimed) secret ninja stealth recon work, and after trying Jedi mind tricks on the 5th security guard (who was immune for some reason), I decided to walk over to the public beach instead.
I stayed on the beach for sunset, getting some pretty cool shots as the sun tucked behind the clouds. I sort of toyed with the idea of getting a reflection shot within the surf but I didn’t want to chance my gear.
After the sun went down, I quickly recognized the potential and decided to man up. I took off my shoes, rolled up my pant legs, and setup my tripod in the surf. I used a high f-stop (f/11) to increase the exposure times and soften the water and waves. When I reviewed the exposure brackets, I was immediately thankful that my Jedi powers had failed. If they would have worked on the security guard, I wouldn’t have found this beautiful spot.
Sometimes one door must close for another to open. ;)
