On the left one can see the trail. In the rainy season it gets a bit slippery here, one has to be a lot careful at this place. The view from here is gorgeous.

The Monsoons are here and the Western Ghats are again a place of beauty and magic.Last Sunday we went to Malshej Ghat ,some 3 hours from Pune. The beauty of this place in the Monsoons is really ethereal. The valley is lush green ,the dam is full and there are waterfalls plunging down the mountainsides all around. You can see some of the waterfalls in this shot.
Might be worth a look in large.
The route up the Malshej Ghat is amazing, the twist and turns are very thrilling :)

This is a common means of transport in villages. Its not unusal to see a jeep designed to carry around 8 people easily taking the load of around 25 to 30 people.
We too took the same ride and the view from the top is amazing, one has to balance himself on the top its a thriller ride.
Max thanks for the camera :)

Sorry the goats are not in evidence in this shot.:-)
It is that magical time of the year again. We are almost halfway through the Monsoons and this part of Maharashtra has turned into a beautiful lush green paradise.
Today we took a daytrip to Malshej Ghat ,some 3 hours from Pune.Located in the Western Ghats ,Malshej Ghat is particularly picturesque in the Monsoons when the surrounding mountains are clad in a mantle of green and the heavy rainfall results in numerous waterfalls all around. The place looked absolutely magical today with the dam full to overflowing, the valley lush green and the silver grey clouds swirling over the landscape like some magician's cloak, now hiding the mountains and the waterfalls and now moving away to offer tantalizing glimpses of them.
It was drizzling most of the time so I used my phone rather than my camera for photography.
Shot from a moving car, through the windshield. So pardon the smudge, please.

This range is one the most beautiful part of sahyadri
it takes us through Ahupe ghat, darya ghat, amboli village, durga dhakoba, malshej ghat, naneghat, jevdhan, and many more places
The houses at the base of Harishchandra Gad, in the village Khireshwar, were painted very uniquely. The bright colors were very attractive, very eye catching. This is just a glimpse of one of those warm house.
