We were watching a new drama series on the television of course, and this one was set in our own backyard. Well, bits of it were anyway. Depends on your definition of backyard really. You might have seen it too. I expect the residents of Shetland feel the same and we've been hooked on that since the first series. Ali was right of course. Cornwall was the star of the show while the complex issues around a pair of babies who were accidentally swapped at birth because of an admin cock up were merely a side story. One rich couple, the other supposedly down on their luck - although she owned a restaurant, just as we all do down here, and they lived in a very nice looking house in Mevagissey that many local people can only dream of. But the reality gap is always going to drive people like me around the twist. Poldark was even worse. Holywell Bay one minute, Penberth Cove the next. And five minutes after that, Ross was racing his horse across Bodmin Moor while Demelza had magically appeared in Charlestown. And this was in the late eighteenth century, almost two hundred years before the first Ford Sierra Cosworth with go faster stripes had arrived on the peninsula for goodness sake.

I'm sure the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust really appreciated the negative fictional publicity. They're in the local news enough with tales of misfortune and malpractice as it is, without the screenwriters putting the boot in. I should add for the sake of balance that my children and their own children were all born there without incident.

I've often wondered when the moment would arrive for me to share this one, taken six years ago on a windy rain charged Sunday afternoon in March when the late winter light was doing magical things on top of St Agnes Head. There's nothing much doing anyway, and I've already got my shots, besides which I need to shift in a minute because it's Friday. Five a side night. It's a beautiful view, but rather than running halfway across the north coast of the county I came here in the car. It's much quicker and allows me to focus a bit more clearly than was done with the plot of a half baked TV drama that we only lasted the distance with because of where it was filmed. Enough said. Time to, erm, run around in a sports hall, and one just down the road rather than the other side of Cornwall.

In severe case of misjudgment, I decided to nail this guy at a pretty uninspiring crossing north of Lee, instead of repositioning to the highway bridge at Shabonna. My mind was still set on getting a first light wedge, similar to what I did back in July with the 975. However, instead of helping me this time, UP robbed me of first light by routing a WB into G3. This fouled the diamonds for a good 45 minutes. Apparently, this is an optimal operating practice for UP as they try to eliminate the role of Proviso. So with first light gone for over an hour, I still went for this wedge despite the shadows clearing the nice "high-and-wide" shot at Shabonna. My greed of trying to get 3 shots instead of 2 also weighed into my thought process. I was emboldened by my pervious experiences this summer. But those experiences were at 0600 and not at 0800. This was a major oversight as every town along US-30 seems to have placed their schools along the main drag. So being cocky didn't work in this case and I only got my two wedges, which were far from the best shots one could have gotten that morning. Railfan malpractice I suppose. I can only hope that before I die, I may actually learn something.

A closer look at the C. U. Williams & Son Building located on the south side of the 200 block of E. Washington St. in downtown Bloomington. Completed in 1911, the four-story building was constructed as an automobile showroom, garage and lodge hall. Of particular note are the large second-story showroom windows designed to display twice as many cars from the street.

According to the McLean County Museum of History, C. U. Williams and his son Walter sold the latest models from early automakers, including E-M-F, Chalmers, Moon, Stearns, Studebaker, Willys-Overland and Woods (the latter known for its electric cars). "The manufacturers that we are representing are all old and well-established houses - there cars are long past the experimental stage," was a C. U. Williams & Son promise.

The McLean County Museum of History article on C. U. Williams goes on to say that Williams & Son offered not only sales and maintenance, but auto painting, "livery" service (car rentals by the hour or day), storage (when home garages were few) and even a place to charge battery-powered cars.

In later years an office equipment company by the name of Paxtons occupied the building. The building is now the home of the legal offices of Wylder Corwin Kelly LLP, trial lawyers specializing in medical malpractice.

The C. U. Williams & Son Building, along with the Castle Theatre next to it and also owned by Williams, were designed by architect A. T. Simmons. Simmons designed the Lafayette Apartments posted earlier in this series, but is probably best known for his more than 71 Carnegie libraries in Illinois and a dozen other states, along with numerous courthouses, schools, churches and other public buildings. Simmons also designed most of the houses in the Cedar Crest Historic District of Normal, Illinois, the other half of the twin municipalities of Bloomington and Normal.

Both the C. U. Williams & Son Building and the Castle Theatre next door are contributing architectural properties in the Bloomington Central Business District listed in 1985 on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The district includes roughly twelve square blocks of the city and encompasses 140 buildings, 118 of which are contributing buildings to the district's historic character.

Bloomington is the seat of McLean County. It is adjacent to Normal, and is the more populous of the two principal municipalities of the Bloomington-Normal metropolitan area. Bloomington is home to State Farm Insurance, Country Financial and Beer Nuts. Illinois Wesleyan University is located here, while the neighboring city of Normal is home to Illinois State University and Heartland Community College. Bloomington is 135 miles (217 km) southwest of Chicago, and 162 miles (261 km) northeast of St. Louis. The estimated population of Bloomington in 2019 was 77,330, with a metro population of 191,067.

I'm actually impossibilitated to stay longer online, I'm just borrowing a tablet for a limited time until the below explained matter will be solved.

A bad admin, or, I should say worse, a malicius jerk administrating some groups with an incommensurable prosopopeia, professing his groups as the best of Flickr, (with what authority and modesty? Lol), sent an email to my mailbox injecting a bad virus: that of the ineptitude, oh my!

My doctor said I should follow a prophylaxis to avoid any contamination proscribing me to train with some new abstraction works. (I believe he means I should abstract myself from unrilevant ridiculous issues :-) There me go! This is my new abstract :-)

While Flickr is inspecting the case, especially after having had two approvals (certified by screenshots) for the same abstract, followed by two removals of the same and because he allowed himself to disrespectfully land in my profile with no permission and publicly drop lies and falsities, informing he -fakely- banned me from a group I had already left the week before as tired by his multiple unjustified incorrectnesses (this sounds a retaliation because with my free will I unjoined his elitary group!), I will post here my new preparatory abstract exercize for the attention of my Flickr Friends, contacts & visitors. It's been very relaxing making it!

Thought of the day: those who abuse of a unauthorized power, lose any credibility.

As my contacts and followers know, I'm an admin too, besides simple member in a number of groups, but I've never seen such a sociopath behaviour from the sides of an admin, asserting elitary and racist statemens on his "mythical" groups that, for him, but just for him, are the best ever on Flickr, although you should see the pool, not very much supporting his self-congratulatory position.

And, see, isn't this assertion offensive towards all the other admins and moderators of active groups who do their very best as volunteers ? Isn't this offensive for all those smart artists who decided to not join his groups ?

To tell it all, I had joined his 2/3 groups thinking that my humble works, not being a digital manipulator expert, could indeed fit in a middle, middle-mediocre group for ordinary creativity.

I tried to open his eyes, and I did also because, apart approving continuosly my submissions and then frantically removing my pics even after days with the false accusation I bypass the pending queue (ridiculous as impossible).

In particular, my pic that was heavily attacked by his comment (and 2 RRR emails = rude, redundant & racist) can be seen at this link: flic.kr/p/2oFPxRy.

I don't appreciate that admin continuously tampering me and my profile sending me a wide variety of invites to other groups, notwithstanding I regularly deny his invites and told him I don't need and don't feel like to post in those groups, but, no no, there's nothing to do in front of ignorance.

So, Friends, heads up, when someone treat you with disrespect, no matter what his/her role is, beware and possibly leave those groups that, if administrated with malpractices, rudeness and disrespect, are surely groups you don't belong.

Furthermore, the Flickr Community Guidelines assert, that a member removal can occur only just after 3 warnings and I received none, instead I received an award by the same admin who then removed my pic inventing I have overpassed the pending queue. The same admin who, while he believes to be a true digital artist, wrote me he was not able to download and visualize the PNG screenshot of my notifications proving beyond doubts that he had indeed approved my pic. Wow! A true professional! A fantasy visionary!

If similar episodes should happen to you, be aware you have the possibility to flag and report both the group and the admin responsible of bad treatments or unfair removals.

The two buildings on our immediate left were designed by architect A. T. Simmons. Simmons designed the Lafayette Apartments posted earlier in this series, but is probably best known for his more than 71 Carnegie libraries in Illinois and a dozen other states, along with numerous courthouses, schools, churches and other public buildings. The building with the Paxtons name over its entrance was the first of the two buildings to be constructed. Known as the C. U. Williams & Son Building, the four-story building was constructed as an automobile showroom, garage and lodge hall. Called “the largest in any city of Bloomington’s size,” this impressive steel-frame and brick edifice was testament to the coming automobile age. Of particular note are the large second-story showroom windows designed to display twice as many cars from the street.

According to the McLean County Museum of History, and his son Walter sold the latest models from early automakers, including E-M-F, Chalmers, Moon, Stearns, Studebaker, Willys-Overland and Woods (the latter known for its electric cars). About four years after opening his automobile showroom, Williams commissioned A. T. Simmons to design the Castle Theatre next door. Upon its completion, Williams used the upper floors above the theater for garage space. Both buildings had freight elevators large enough to accommodate the cars of the day.

In later years an office equipment company by the name of Paxtons occupied the C. U. Williams & Son Building. It is now the home of the legal offices of Wylder Corwin Kelly LLP, trial lawyers specializing in medical malpractice.

The Castle Theatre opened January 24, 1916 as a 1,100-seat movie theatre. It was Bloomington's first real movie palace, and remained a popular Bloomington movie theater until 1988. The Castle Theatre reopened in 2003 after a much-needed restoration as a “brew and view” style first-run movie house but was closed again in January 2007. A church, which has used the theater for Sunday morning services since 2005, continued to meet at the Castle Theatre until late-2010. New owners took over and it is now used as a concert venue.
