HE is the rock that protects me in the storms and the home where I rest to feel the fire.
I reached his hands like malleable mud, now I look back and see his footprints on me, he has left the marks of his cheerful spirit, his restlessness, his kindness, his strength...
Fill the air I breathe, fill my lips when they are empty. Turn on the passion and turn off the pain, return me to territories of happiness and sweep the dry leaves that accidentally fall into my path.
I love him for many things, especially because with Him I am more Me.

not too long ago
as i was savoring the stillness
of the early hours of the day
i stood before this
minuscule water droplet
bathed in the morning light
i looked at it as closely as i could
and to my amazement i saw
how the universe encased
within its iridescent walls
had suddenly become
as malleable as my imagination
it was a moment when
i realized i was looking at
something in the grandeur
of its smallness.

There are relative differences on how various warbler species respond to efforts to photograph them. Modification of those efforts in most cases whether it be time of season (dates for a location), how calls and which calls are used (if they are used), and perch selection whether that be a general selection or a highly specific exact selected perch can either increase or decrease probability of photographer success. This species has been a bit of a nemesis for me (and for other experienced warbler photographers based on conversations I've had) in placing it on an EXACT specific perch. I must stress that unless a bird is relatively comfortable and confident it won't linger on such a perch especially sing from that perch. A stressed out bird darting back and forth is NEVER the goal and gives photographers a bad name as well as being bad for the bird. "Putting a call on" is a very generic statement and the how is poorly understood by most. I have digressed so back to this shoot! I found this bird the day before and noticed he was very malleable for his species. However the light was getting harsh so I quickly left him and returned the next morning. I wish I had done a little better with the lighting (uneven) and I was a little slow on the draw and missed more open shots on this perch. Yet it marked a success for me with this species and I learned from it.
It's somehow quite satisfying to squeeze this soft and squishy little character. Made with a pliable outer coating, he's filled with some sort of malleable substance that is soft, but firm--if that makes sense--and he returns to his original shape when released from grip.
I think he's intended to be a stress relieving object. I received him as a giveaway item once during my working career (there's a corporate name on his back). And the best thing about it: No matter how hard or how many times you squeeze him, the little guy just keeps on smiling. :-)

It couldn't be taken back.
Or unsaid.
Or undecided.
Or undone.
It wasn't a malleable thing, a putty or a clay
It was a shattered thing, a permanent destruction
Felt across the Earth in one single moment
Even if people in other countries didn't understand
Why they suddenly shuddered uncontrollably.

Pewter is a metal alloy composed mainly of tin, with copper and antimony added as hardeners to increase its strength and durability. Modern pewter, unlike older versions, contains no lead and is entirely non-toxic and recyclable. Its malleability and low melting point allowed it to be easily cast into molds for items like tableware

The malleable nature of the rocks and cones in and around Göreme has meant that people have carved out cave homes here from at least the third century (and probably from long before). The earliest such homes were probably simple caves but by the 20th century most of the houses (except those in single cones) had stone rooms built in front of the caves for families to live in while the caves were relegated to stabling and storage. The houses were designed to suit a place-specific way of life, with mangers for the animals cut from the rock along with presses used to tread grapes and later to make pekmez (grape molasses). Tandır ovens cut into the floors doubled as heating. This was a way of life that continued right into the first decade of the 21st century but that came to an effective end as a result of a tourism book that saw almost all the old houses converted into boutique hotels by around 2015.

Softness triumphs over hardness, feebleness over strength. What is malleable is always superior to that which is immovable. This is the principle of controlling things by going along with them, of mastery through adaptation.

We used to be so bony you could feel our ribs and hips easily.
Tight as a bungee chord.
Now, we are loose, hanging flesh
Sumptuous voluptuous swinging and
Making noise when we move
We’ve made an agreement to stay together
despite the present and the future
Our flesh is malleable and we let our decisions tend that way
Squishy and fun to play with
Years of excess love makes us soft
And, some stressful days are worse than others
We feel worn out and less soft
A pulpy stretched out mess that doesn’t quite
Feel as flexible.
But that’s the thing with the flesh after all these years.
Even when it doesn’t always feel quite right
on those long luscious days
It can bounce back, just like the best humans.

This is another 2 shot stitched pano from my DJI Mavic Air. I find doing this with the drone gives me a much more malleable and useable file. It's also really easy to do as there's very little to get in the way!
This one is from a couple of years ago, not sure why I haven't uploaded it before now!
When there's not much in the way of internal partitioning in a glass-clad building, side light travels from the inside to the shady side. I need a less noisy and higher res sensor to get really malleable raws from scenes like this. The lens is resolving the details just fine, but there's too much noise to process this well and take it places.
Ayot St Lawrence, Hertfordshire (1778). Shown is the frontage and the right wing of the building. This is clearly a statement made in stone: times are changing, and the church must change too. In the end, it turned out that stone is a lot more malleable than tradition. Shot at approx. F11.

This is a frame-filling close-up photo of the amazing ripple patterns that nature has sculpted in the sand at Mavillette Beach. The creative hand of the tide and surf, working with the influencing factors such as the contours of the beach terrain and the malleability of the mud level in the sand, fashions on each beach its unique signature pattern of ripples.

Tauric Chersonese is located in the Crimea, on the shores of the Quarantine Bay of the city of Sevastopol. The word "Chersonesos" in Greek means "peninsula", and the brands were called a warlike tribe that inhabited neighboring mountainous areas. Hence the name of the city. For 2500 years of existence, the city has had several names: Kherson, Sarsona, Korsun.
In 1827, archaeological excavations began here, which continue to this day.The city was founded by the Hellenes in 424-421 BC. Due to its favorable geographical position at the intersection of sea routes, culture, crafts and trade actively developed in the polis. The Greek settlement expanded deep into the Heraclea Peninsula. The initial area of 4 hectares has increased 10 times.
This ancient polis became a stronghold of Christianity in Russia. In the first century, the first followers of Christianity appeared here. In the 5th century, the polis became part of the Byzantine Empire and until the 13th century was the mainstay of Byzantium in the Crimea. In 988, Prince Vladimir Svyatoslavovich of Kiev managed to capture Korsun. In Korsun (Chersonese) Prince Vladimir was baptized, and his wedding with Princess Anna of Byzantium took place here. Then Vladimir Krasno Solnyshko returned to Kiev and began to baptize the people.
According to these facts, Korsun is the cradle of Orthodoxy in Russia.........My old friend, artist and poet!
Do you want to go to the sea, listening to inspiration?
A slow dawn floats over the roof,
Birdsong is pouring through the window.
And so on foot, with a notebook and a canvas,
We're going to a place that smells old,
Where thoughts about the empty will not be born
And the sadness will pass, as before, by the side.
Ancient Chersonese is calling us again,
Keeping malleable secrets.
By the grace of heaven you are worth centuries
And the gods are not accidentally benevolent.
I remember a ruined cathedral there
And a milkweed with a knee -high yarutka,
And the branches are a faded carpet
Took him to where the walls were bare
Once-furnished houses
where the smell of fish mixed with wine
It oozed out of the cool cellars,
leaving the pythos *, which grew out of clay.
There and now it's all a mirage
He will appear under the sultry southern sun:
Here is an ancient Greek with a sharpened knife
Clippings from gubana, stingray and sevryuga. The salty breeze of gray hair stirs,
And the bronze body bursts with heat.
And along the paths there is a virgin boxwood
He rushes to the hills with wheatgrass every now and then.
A fresh wave rolls the stone,
He does not contradict the thoughts of the elements,
And the beam tends to the labyrinths of the bottom,
The flocks of fish are dashing.
Draw, write! It's easy to breathe here!
Here the ardor of the soul and the flesh are inseparable
And the influence of generous muses is great,
And their desires are in tune with ours.
You are an invited guest in this wonderful place.
Here Poseidon rocked the biremes,
Here is a ripe bunch of grapes
Frozen in the stone of the visible universe.

"Pano-Vision" as an approach or an aesthetic is a fluid, malleable and open-ended medium. By it's very nature, set orthodoxies or established methods are called into question and "sabotaged". Ultimate viewpoints are seen as arbitrary and forcefully imputed on to the more complex and often indeterminate nature of reality.
In the PANO-Vision Group artists are invited and encouraged to push the medium as far as they can, incorporating fresh, new and unexpected elements while ensuring that the markers of the medium are still visible.
"Pano-Sabotage" is unique in photographic art in that the distorted or fragmented nature of the image is achieved WITH THE CAMERA, not through post capture manipulation ( e.g. Photoshop etc ). Attempts to mimic the medium in software like Photoshop are always a dead give-away. The "markers" are missing. So Pano-Sabotage is a unique and tell-tale medium.
It's great, 4 years on, to be finding ways to take Pano-Sabotage into new and unexpected places. It's fluid and experimental nature allow for that easily.
Image created 2017.
The title comes from a line of lyric from a song by Brian Eno and Phil Manzanera called "Miss Shapiro", perhaps the very best of Eno's explorations of glossolalia and similar word play. Early in his career he explored this to extraordinary effect resulting in such classics as "Miss Shapiro", "Backwater", "Kurt's Rejoinder" ( with a snippet of a recording of Dadaist Kurt Schwitters sputtering improvised syllables - an early inspiration for Eno ) and the brilliantly backward "Tzima N'arki" done with Cluster in Germany.

New York's primarily residential areas are of equal fascination for me as the grand sites ( sights ? ). This is where the city's unique character shows it's human side and lets you know beautifully just where you are in the world. Neighbourhoods are the "soul" of their cities. Jane Jacobs ardently understood this and fought for a higher consciousness of the value of them. She was hugely successful in protecting neighbourhoods from corporate and governmental destruction both here in New York and in Toronto, Canada. Neighbourhoods and their beauty, the other side of New York, was what I really wanted to focus on a lot more on my June 2019 visit.
This shot on 51st Street just West of 1st Ave look West, looks back toward 2nd Ave, where we had just come out of the subway, returning home from the Union Square vegetable market. Shot on June 8, 2019.
Two untreated Panos in a diptych make up the main body of the image. The longer, horizontal to the left and the smaller vertical on the right. Treated versions of the same main image ( to the left ) form the underlying framing and border overlays.
Why Pano ? Why Pano-Sabotage views of really nice places like this ? Harking back to some of the original dialogue around the medium - is it "destructive", that is, breaking up the world into pieces, or could Pano be an artistic metaphor for transformation, transformation in process, a kind of "RE-Construction"? I see it as both.
The current world paradigm clearly isn't working with mass shootings becoming commonplace almost every day now, the Pacific ocean choked for miles and miles and miles with floating human garbage, the mind-blowing irresponsibility and corruption of governments, corporate neoliberal capitalism levelling all before it's giant steamrolling juggernaut, climate change and the rise of utter chaos shaking the very pillars of civilization, there is no doubt that the 'old world' is dying.
But as Chaos Theory has shown, it's at these precise points that a system in collapse is the most easily malleable. Just the right impetus or push can send a system into a bifurcation either upwards to a higher level, or down into complete destruction. Which will we chose ? Pano-Sabotage then, in my view, puts us crisply at this point of bifurcation. It is very much a reflection of our time. Where will things go, the medium asks ?

Music Link: "The Only Living Boy in New York" - Simon & Garfunkel, originally from their album "Bridge Over Troubled Water". By light-years my favourite Paul Simon song. I have no idea why but this one just rips my heart right out in the most beautiful way. It plays in my head constantly when I'm in New York as most of the time when I'm there I'm alone. It was suggested to me that a single tree would be more pleasing, and odd numbers in photography do generally appeal to us. Here I have cloned out the tree on the right and taken the opportunity to boost the colour vibrance. If only real life was that malleable...
(Although, looking really closely here and at my original this is actually two trees intertwined which I like very much).

A scene captured from Church Road, near Bowers Marsh Nature Reserve, Essex UK.
Seaton Carew is a seaside resort in County Durham, northern England, with a population of 6,018 (2017). The area is named after a Norman French family called Carou who owned lands in the area and settled there, while 'Seaton' means farmstead or settlement by the sea. The resort falls within the unitary authority of Hartlepool.
It separated from most of Hartlepool by the Durham Coast Line. The resort is on the North Sea coast and north of the river Tees estuary.
There is evidence that the area was occupied in Roman times as vestiges of Roman buildings, coins and artefacts are occasionally found on the beach. Later during the reign of Henry I, Seaton came into the possession of Robert De Carrowe and the settlement changed its name to Seaton Carrowe. In medieval times salt was extracted from sea water by evaporation and ash from the fuel used to remove the water was dumped on North Gare and now forms a series of grass covered mounds on the golf course.[9] A Gilbertine priory or cell to Sempringham Priory was established in the Seaton area although so far no trace has been found. In 1667 a gun fortification was built on the promontory of Seaton Snook to defend the mouth of the Tees, particularly against the Dutch—remnants of these fortifications can be seen today.
Seaton Carew was a fishing village but grew in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as a seaside holiday resort for wealthy Quaker families from Darlington, effectively founding Seaton Carew as a seaside resort. Many stayed at the rows of stucco houses and hotels built along the seafront and around The Green—a turfed square facing the sea.
In 1867 a hoard of Spanish silver dollars was revealed in the sands following a heavy storm.
In 1874 the Durham and Yorkshire Golf Club (now Seaton Carew Golf Club) was founded by Duncan McCuaig, with a 14-hole course on coastal land to the south-east of Seaton Carew. Four holes were added in 1891 and in 1925 further work was carried out with the guidance of renowned golf course designer Alister MacKenzie.
In 1882 Seaton Carew was incorporated into West Hartlepool and the Museum of Hartlepool records that a small riot involving Irish labourers took place in the late Victorian era, when townsfolk mistook them for Fenian agitators.
Just north of Seaton was the works of the West Hartlepool Steel & Iron Company. In 1898 Christopher Furness and W.C. Gray of West Hartlepool purchased the Stockton Malleable Iron Works, the Moor Steel and Iron Works, and the West Hartlepool Steel and Iron Works to form the South Durham Steel and Iron Company. This became part of the British Steel Corporation in 1967. The West Hartlepool Steel and Iron Works is thought to have closed in 1979.
Tourists and visitors are attracted to the resort's four miles of sandy beach, promenade, arcades, and fish and chip restaurants. The beach is regularly cleaned and is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer holidays. In 2019 the main beach was given an 'excellent' bathing rating by the Environment Agency and was granted a Seaside Award by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

I love to bake and at Christmas I like to drag out some old fashioned recipes and get busy making yummy stuff!
Nanaimo Bars .... a well known treat in Canada...but, not everywhere else. Oh, they are soooo goooood..... very rich, so small squares are perfect.
Caramel Macchiato shortbread .... mmmmm...
and, Butter Tarts... another Canadian recipe.... and, I've discovered a German pastry (only cream cheese and butter and flour) that is lovely. More malleable than regular pasty and easy to use ... perfect for tiny bitesize tarts. Which are a nuisance to get into tart tins....
Help yourself to one ... or even two, and you won't feel guilty because they are just tiny.....

The Gorgon! The slithering sisters of slaughter! The "daughters" of Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa, these vile creations are a horror on the battlefield.
Their gaze will freeze enemy combatants in fear, enabling the gorgons to cleave arms and heads at leisure from their helpless victims.
With their slender, malleable, serpentine bodies, the gorgons find physical defenses laughable and are able to infiltrate the strongest fortresses with ease.
Thankfully, the original sisters are slow in their production of their petrifying progeny and gorgons are rare sights in combat. To obtain one gorgon would drain the war chest gold of all but the largest armies. It is for this reason that the Battle of Evermore is always remembered, when the Dark Lord fielded three gorgons.

Excerpt from www.bwst.ca/the-artists/flock:
Christopher Reid Flock began a ceramic mentorship with Canadian ceramist Kayo O'Young in 1997 followed by ceramic studies at Sheridan College School of Ceramic Design. In 1999, Flock moved to Japan initiating a self-guided cultural and studio emersion. Returning to Canada in 2009, Flock unpacked the ten years of study through numerous community activities, national and international exhibitions.
In 2014, Flock initiated a world first with Siemens Canada and Mohawk College in CT scanning a 6000BCE Jomon-yaki vessel. Employing traditional clay processes with rapid prototyping he questioned process and cultural engagement from a colonial perspective with historical clay artifact as institutional plaything.
A short-listed candidate for the permanent outdoor ceramic sculpture, Gardiner Museum, Recipient of the 2014 Winifred Shantz Award for Ceramics, the 2015 Founders Award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, through the support of three Canada Council for the Arts grants, and an MFA in 2022, Flock continues to push the clay envelope.
His work can be found in international private collections, the Canadian Embassy in Paris, France, the permanent collection at the Yingge Ceramics Museum, Taiwan, the Residence of the Prime Minister of Canada, Permanent collection at the Clay and Glass Gallery Waterloo, Canada, and the Art Gallery of Burlington, Burlington, Canada.
Artist Statement:
I have reified my notion of clay as a physical piece— a basking clay form linked to my malleable processes. Precarious in isolation, momentarily caught in a literal sense of materiality, this figurative gesture leans into vulnerability. I have reached into “potentiality” and trusted my grip. From that reach I present the chaotic as form. Here, I emulate creative play and the agency of possibility. This provides a visual and auditory context into how and where I am in the present. I see this as a reorientation of the self-conscious— steeped in an appeal to the phenomenal. Because it is phenomenal that I now stand here, in this place l as the next generation of what, where, and why we progress with(in). This line of process made me feel small. Not in a ferocious self-sabotage way, but because this creative act forced me to embrace vulnerability. Vulnerable to change in material, scale, and a general perception of things taken and others discarded. That our minds are capable, especially at a young age, to remove what you need and then discard (or turn away from) the rest I felt important to hit. And as a potter, as a human, this is how and where new ideas form. Above all, clay (land itself) has helped me to be malleable.
as i was savoring the stillness
of the early hours of the day
i knelt before this
minuscule water droplet
bathed in the morning light
i looked at it as closely as i could
and to my amazement i saw
how the universe encased
within its iridescent walls
had suddenly become
as malleable as my imagination
it was a moment when
i realized i was looking at something
in the grandeur of its smallness.
