Nothing is more exciting than getting an envelope in the mail that says a "Message from Your Sponsored Child". We love sponsoring two children in Africa. It is so exciting to get their letters and to get to know an individual that lives in such a foreign land from ours. It is surely a blessing to know that maybe we are helping two children to grow up safe and healthy with a good education that might help them to make a difference in their world. We have gotten to know so much about these children. We feel like they are part of our family. We share letters about our families, our adventures, our pets, our hobbies, our photos, and our dreams. We also share our love of God. I think one of my favorite letters was when our child from Uganda said that she and her family were celebrating, because their cow had given birth to a healthy calf and that they praised God for us, because the cow that had given birth was the cow that they had bought with the money that we had given them. How exciting it was to read that just a small amount of our money had truly made a difference in this family's life! I highly recommend if you have just a little extra time and money for you to sponsor a child through Compassion International: www.compassion.com/default.htm. It is so simple & I bet that if you do, your heart will be bursting with joy as soon as you receive your first treasured letter! :)

Celebrating our amazing EOP Class of 2023! We take great pride in recognizing the remarkable journeys of our exceptional students. Did you know that some of our brightest minds began their CSUN adventure as special admits? EOP leaders saw their immense potential beyond high school grades and with mentoring and support these individuals blossomed into successful college graduates!

Let's also take a moment to honor and celebrate those who were part of our EOP Resilient Scholars Program, designed to provide unwavering support to former foster youth throughout their academic pursuit. These resilient individuals have proven time and again that they are true overachievers, surpassing all expectations along their journey.

As we bid farewell to the EOP Class of 2023, we couldn't be prouder of their remarkable accomplishments and unwavering determination.

Congratulations to our high potential EOP students on their completion of their residential bridge experience. Our convocation took place on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Back in the summer of 2015, most of these students were admitted to our campus by EOP as "special-admit" freshmen. This means that CSU rejected these students due to their low grades in high school, but EOP leaders recognized their high potential. For a summer plus three semesters, EOP leaders provided support services, especially mentors, to help these students develop their potential. Now several are young scholars on our campus.

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, EOP hosted a recognition reception for its graduating seniors. At the event students had the chance to to connect with their peers and they also received a commemorative EOP graduation sash, a small token from their "EOP family" to publicly acknowledge their hard work and dedication. This year marks the 50 years of the Educational Opportunity Program and we have commemorated this special occasion with our special edition “EOP 50 years” sash. The sash is a representation of not only the success of our students but the program’s 50 years of changing lives through continuous innovation. We can’t wait to see our graduating students wear it proudly during CSUN’s commencement ceremonies.

Attending the event were also former EOP students receiving their post graduate degree, who were honored with a medal.
