...of bad conditions. Having only one morning a week to get out with my camera can be very frustrating, especially as I am at the mercy of the weather. Once again this week there was some fantastic conditions though the week while I was at work, then more flat grey skies on my day off. This is the 3rd week in a row now so I am hoping for some better conditions before autumn is over, especially now the colours are really starting to change. This is a crop from a wider pano that I shot at Thirlmere yesterday morning where water levels are still very low.
In Thailand stray dogs are everywhere and are known as Soi dogs (alley dogs). They are fed but left to roam around and although they mostly keep away from humans they can be a nuisance especially if you are cycling as they like the thrill of the chase.
Up here on Monkey Hill just outside Phuket Town they have an uneasy relationship with the macaques that also live there. We saw soi dogs being chased away by the monkeys, but we also saw plenty of tender moments like this where the soi dogs were groomed by the monkeys.
A Canada Goose makes waves as it glides through the calm water. I watched him as he got further and further away, and ended up on the opposite site of the canal with his mate at their nesting site.
At the beginning of June I realized that the process of settling in isn’t much of a process. It’s more like jumping right in, trying to find your way and not being okay for a while, wanting everything to hurry up. Until some day, suddenly you realize that you are in fact okay. It will always feel more like a surprise rather than something that just takes time. But that’s it — The moment you first think about settling in is the moment you actually have.
I have another three weeks of my internship at Coffee Circle left and as much as I enjoyed most of the work, the amount of time I spend there is just a bit too much at the moment. I basically postponed everything that is not work in order to spend all of my free time exploring Berlin, meeting friends and being with Daniel. I desperately need some rest and am really looking forward to having more time for myself again soon. :)
SY 1225 assembles rakes of wagons into her train for mine #3.
When runing backwards, they seem to use a flagman to stand on the back of the tender to read any signals from the lucky sod with flags standing out in the cold wind at the back of the train.

My favorite way into the Natural History Museum of London is up this escalator. Very cool and always fun to photograph.
Chickpea enjoying the sunny weather, he climbed into the buddleia bush and sat, waiting for passing insects. This bee came up and had a chat :)
Very hot for us, 28c today, everyone is too hot, apart from Chickpea!
“The miracles of nature do not seem miracles because they are so common. If no one had ever seen a flower, even a dandelion would be the most startling event in the world.”

My sweet girl is off-track again for the next month and wanted to be my hand model today. We both still have colds and are bummed we cannot go out and frolic in the freshly fallen snow. We are going to be cleaning and crafting up a storm inside today. Over the weekend we made a bunch of bookmarks and are ready for a reading marathon too. There is a hidden message that she carved into the melon, perhaps you can find it. Have a colorful and healthy day!
PS she set up the color scheme.
The Bear Lake County, Idaho, fire department has a small fire station and at least one fire truck in every little town. It is an all-volunteer department. Wildfire season is coming, so several firefighters brought their trucks to the fairgrounds to test the equipment so repairs can be made if necessary. These guys were very cooperative when we asked them to point their hoses in the right direction, and adjust them for a wide spray so we could get rainbow photos. It was serious business, but they had fun too. Several men brought their kids and let them hold the hoses.
