NPLD events took place all across Oregon and Washington. Thanks to all the volunteers that came out to help improve our nation's public lands!
Volunteers from the Vale area and BLM staff helped to clean up and improve the Owyhee River Corridor. Volunteers covered up graffiti, picked up trash and mounted birdhouses at the Watchable Wildlife Viewing Area. The Owyhee River area is a heavily used recreation area for everything from water activities like river rafting, fishing visiting hot springs, to camping, hiking and horseback riding.

On Saturday for National Public Lands Day, United Network for Public Access and Fraser Area Trail Riders brought 13 members to help build 1,350 feet of boundary fence around Wolford Mountain's open OHV area outside Kremmling, Colorado. To build the fence, volunteers used reclaimed wood that youth corps interns removed from BLM lands this summer.

The Richfield Field Office partnered with the Rocky Mountain ATV Jamboree to pick up trash off of public lands surrounding the Paiute Trail. A total of 212 participants collected 183 bags of trash from September 21st to September 25th.

There were 117 hard-working volunteers who showed up on a misty Saturday morning for National Public Lands Day at the BLM Campbell Creek Science Center. Volunteers accomplished a great deal of backlog maintenance projects on Campbell Tract.

NPLD 2015 is in the books for the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse ONA. 2015 also marks the 20th annual for this event, and a great event it was.
Approximately 85 volunteers from the local community, Jupiter High School and local Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts participated in the early morning event. Volunteers retrieved approximately 200 lbs of trash - with many reporting how clean the mangroves and shoreline were compared with previous events. In addition, volunteers removed approximately 600 lbs of the parasitic lovevine, which improves both the ecosystem health and ascetics of the trails on site.

More than 75 people showed up for a sunny day of work at the Tumalo Historic Canal Trailhead in the Cline Buttes Recreation Area near Redmond, Oregon, to help the Prineville District BLM put some finishing touches on the new trailhead.
Volunteers built trail, moved rock, constructed split rail fence and put some overall polish at this new site designed for hikers and equestrian riders. We couldn't have done the work without our partners at the Oregon Military Department, Oregon Equestrian Trails, REI, and Oregon State Parks!

A huge turnout at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area for National Public Lands Day 2015!
Military Veterans from the Nevada Conservation Corps joined several other partners on habitat and trail restoration, a project that continues over the next few months to improve visitor access and enjoyment in addition to improving wildlife habitat of Sloan Canyon NCA.
Other partners include the BLM Southern Nevada District, Conservation Lands Foundation, Friends of Sloan Canyon, City of Henderson Government, and NV Energy, with their generous Foundation contribution of $75,000 toward helping Veterans's return to civilian life.

National Public Lands Day -Great Sierra River Clean-up event was held near Susanville, California.
A group of 16 volunteers removed trash from a section of the Susan River (Great Sierra River Clean-up) and then trimmed brush and picked up litter along a section of the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail which is jointly managed by the BLM and Lassen National Forest
The projects were coordinated by the Lassen County Environmental Education Collaborative, a partnership of the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office, the Lassen National Forest, Lassen County Office of Education and the Lassen Land and Trails Trust.

Volunteers helped Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument (GSENM) park rangers at two favored destinations: the Boulder Mail trail and Willis Creek. Hefting rocks, shovels and vegetation, they successfully repaired a road, dispersed fire rings and removed graffiti along a popular canyon route.

"Sisters of Rwanda has been in operation in Rwanda for 2.5 years. Our original mission was to “ensure justice, equality and economic opportunities for Rwanda’s most vulnerable women”. Over the years we have learned better how to serve this amazing country and the people that dwell within it. We came here to listen and to learn, and as part of the natural maturation of our organization, we have grown into KEZA. Simply put, KEZA is the result of a 2.5 year pilot project called Sisters of Rwanda. “KEZA is a people-inspired luxury fashion house based in Rwanda. We buy top quality fashion goods from non-profit development organizations, generate income for the poor and help to establish Africa’s position in the luxury fashion industry.”
We still work with the very same 43 women that helped build Sisters of Rwanda. And our vision has only strengthened and become more strategic. Sisters of Rwanda has grown up, and we are proud to present KEZA to the world. Welcome to KEZA, “Where ‘they’ become ‘we’”. "

Christina Noble OBE is the founder and driving force behind the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation. Her passion for children’s rights is rooted in her own upbringing of homelessness and desperation.
In 1989 she set up the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Since then, the foundation and its projects have grown significantly in both Vietnam and Mongolia, it protects children at risk of economic and sexual exploitation and provides education and basic care for children in need. This event was an inspiring evening with a woman who has dedicated her life to making a difference.

Each year the girls eagerly look forward to filling box of goodies for Operation Christmas Child (OCC).
According to the OCC website, "Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes."
On Monday, the girls picked out items at Target that they felt a child of their age would either need or want.
Here they are sorting through the items and dividing them according to what box they will go into.

Youth volunteers, together with the Red Cross disaster management team, launched a small-scale mitigation project that aimed to plant 3,000 walnut trees in landslide-prone areas to protect communities nearby.

At the fence removal site, volunteers removed about a quarter mile of trespass fence that was causing livestock and cattle access problems to a stream. After five hours, the group finished the job and the area was restored to its natural state.
