The Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is a baroque French château located in Maincy, near Melun, 55 kilometres (34 mi) southeast of Paris in the Seine-et-Marne département of France.
Constructed from 1658 to 1661 for Nicolas Fouquet, Marquis de Belle Île, Viscount of Melun and Vaux, the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV, the château was an influential work of architecture in mid-17th-century Europe. At Vaux-le-Vicomte, the architect Louis Le Vau, the landscape architect André le Nôtre, and the painter-decorator Charles Le Brun worked together on a large-scale project for the first time. Their collaboration marked the beginning of the "Louis XIV style" combining architecture, interior design and landscape design. The garden's pronounced visual axis is an example of this style.

This was shot approximately 450m from the château. The distance from the front gate of the château to the Grand Canal is 900m! Both the château and the gardens and the statues are in top condition! Notice all those 2000 candles! This place is amazing.

A saturday summer full moon night at Vaux-Le-Vicomte, a Baroque castle near Paris, built in mid-17th-century for Nicolas Fouquet, the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV.
Each saturday during summer period, all the castle and its amazing gardens are enlightened by hundreds of candles, producing an incredible ambiance.
When I start shooting, I realized that I forgot my memory card at home. I just took the camera and 1 more lens, without taking the whole photobag with gears and backup memory cards.
I tried to find one at the castle shop, with no success...
I was really disappointed and ready to give up when I finally realized that the GPS system in my car is using a SD Card. A quick format, and I finally start shooting. Lucky man !
I had to wait until the very last visitor left the site to take this picture
