Part of the open air museum Maihaugen, Lillehammer, is dedicated to the 20th century - including this main street, recreated to look like such a street would be like in a small Norwegian town in the early 20th century.
La main plonge dans le bassin rempli de carpes koï, les doigts s'agitent, les poissons se rassemblent. Et là, nous avons commencé à caresser leur tête. A notre plus grande surprise, ils ont semblé apprécier. Quand on dit que la carpe koï est un improbable compagnon, je le crois volontiers !

One of the many true Main Street USAs found across the country, Broken Arrow truly is that symbol... the light caught the leaves and the sign was there to go with it all pixel worthy!
Commonly known as La Compañia, this Catholic church is one of the most important places of interest in Quito. It is even said to be one of the 7 wonders of Ecuador. Located in the historical centre of the country's capital, it is the most visited place for travellers. It was once part of a university called Santa Gregorio, which was the Ecuadorian Jesuit headquarters during the Spanish colonial empire.
I had to get up very early on Friday to drop off my wife at the Portland Jetport. I took advantage to that to stop and take in the sunrise over the Portland harbor. The structure is what remains of a railroad trestle for the Grand Trunk Railroad dating back to the late 1800's, In 1984 it was badly damaged by a fire and had been left in that state until a year or so ago when the section on the right was removed as it had become quite hazardous to boat traffic. I did not know that part had been removed and was rather disappointed to find it missing.

На світлині погляд з бічної північної нави на іконостас центральної апсиди, Видно частину іконостасу бічної південної нави. Через відкриту Царську браму та понад іконостасом видно частину оформлення вівтарного простору.
З правого боку центрального іконостасу на предвівтарній арці фреска, яка є частиною сюжету Стрітення Господнє -зустріч Ісуса Христа в Єрусалимському храмі з праведним Симеоном та Анною пророчицею.
Друга частина сюжету Стрітення Господнє (див. Інше фото) знаходиться з лівого боку центрального іконостасу на предвівтарній арці - на фресці юна Богоматір у темному покриві стоїть біля входу до храму. За Нею старець Йосип з двома білими голубами, принесеними на жертву цілопалення.
Стрітення Господнє у двох фресках на арочних колонах виконав художник Віктор Михайлович Васнєцов.
2 лютого християни вшановують подію з Євангелія, яка сталася на 40 день після народження Ісуса Христа. Богородиця та Йосиф принесли своє немовля до храму, щоб посвятити його Богові та віддати за нього символічну жертву.
За тогочасним звичаєм у жертву приносили ягня та голуба. Якщо ж сім’я не мала змоги пожертвувати стільки, дозволялося принести дві голубки. З іконографії бачимо, що земна сім’я Ісуса не була заможною, адже на релігійних зображеннях на честь цього свята бачимо саме дві голубки.
У храмі Марія і Йосиф зустрічають праведного Симеона, який все життя чекав на зустріч з Господом. Коли він побачив Ісуса, то зрозумів, що це і є довгожданий Месія.
Старець Симеон пророкував про велич Ісуса, його складний шлях та муки, які доведеться пізнати материнському серцю Марії. За переказами, Симеон помер наступного дня після цієї зустрічі й на той час йому було понад 300 років.
Стрітення – це єдине серед дванадесятих (дванадцяти найбільш шанованих) свят у християнстві, яке за уставом одночасно є і Богородичним, і Господнім (тобто таким, яке вшановує і Бога, і Богоматір).
