A bunch of product catalogues stuffed into a mail slot in the front fence of a suburban property. Happy Fence Friday!

Although it is already winter, the plane trees on the street are still wearing glorious autumn colours.

I'm in no rush...

After a 3 day ice storm, the roads were finally safe to drive on. So I decided to go out and see what I could photograph.

Most grand old houses in the northeast still have the classic mail slot, they say, though many have been moved up a bit from the very bottom of the door, to accommodate the postmen's backs......I'm trying to decide if the slightly faded part on the bottom of this door could have been where the original slot was, tho the wood doesn't look cut, just faded.....

Glenn Innes to Inverell mail bus Ford MO-854 last in service in the late1970's at the national motor museum at Inverell.

A small town postal service still living in pre-digital age simplicity.

HMM. Ok, I suspect mail hasn't been delivered to this mostly abandoned farmstead for some time. Spotted on a recent road trip we took just to get away.

This is the night mail crossing the Border,

Bringing the cheque and the postal order,

Letters for the rich, letters for the poor,

The shop at the corner, the girl next door.

A recreated Frisco mail train is ready to depart the East Union depot, led by the SLSF 1630. Before the train can leave, the two conductors must show the young lady the route timetable and board her and the sailor.

My goal with this series is to explore every day scenes under the cover of darkness. A street corner, a lamp post, a doorway. Big city, small town, urban, rural. Man-made light versus nature’s darkness–––light and shadow interpreting minimalist settings in black and white. To see more in this series, check out Cover Of Darkness

The postcard challenge this week is to add a charm.

This old barn sits in Pennsylvania’s Fayette County on a quiet country road. Painted wit the iconic Mail Pouch Tobacco slogan, it stands out nicely against the late day December sunshine.

Letterbox at the entrance to an agricultural property between Toowoomba and Cecil Plains on the Darling Downs in Queensland.

This was our most successful trip in terms of the number of unique and unusual letterboxes we found and photographed - one road alone delivery 20+!

Stonechats are robin sized birds. Males have striking black heads with white around the side of their neck, orange-red breasts and a mottled brown back. Females lack the male's black head, but have brown backs and an orange tinge to their chests. Birds are frequently seen flicking their wings while perched, often doing so on the tops of low bushes. As its name suggests, birds utter a sharp loud call that sound like two stones being tapped together. They breed in western and southern parts of the UK, but disperse more widely in winter. I love someone with a great sense of humor. The Air Mail Box is wonderfully done! The artist behind this is retired builder Vaughn Reed in Clawson, Utah.

Jump aboard the miniature Mail Rail train and travel through the tunnels underneath London's Mount Pleasant sorting office. The track stretches all the way from Paddington to Whitechapel.

During the First World War, the Mail Rail tunnels were used to store art treasures belonging to the Tate, British Museum and National Portrait Gallery to protect them from German attacks.
