A lady walks through paddy fields probably on a shopping expedition somewhere in the interiors of the state of Maharashtra, India.
The light was very poor, she was quite some distance away and the shot was a quick one through our car window but I thought my friends would like this glimpse of life in rural India.

Dear friends and colleagues from Flickr.
This is the 5th in the series on the city of Mumbai.
It was not easy shooting these pics from the height I have shot.
Physical risk was involved while shooting this series on Mumbai Skyline.
To say the least, there was no such thing called 'Terrace' or a flat surface area from where I could shoot, there were just small square pillars in the name of terrace of say 20 inches by 20 inches space from which i had to balance myself, aim, shoot and then jump from one pillar to another to move from one corner to another to shoot all the sides of the city.
On top of it there was a lot of wind from all sides, a slight mis - balance on those square pillars while shooting and I would have been thrown 2 floors down.
So risk taken, enjoyed.
It was also my dream to shoot South Mumbai from this height and I am proud of this achievement.
I, thank my friend Javed Mulla for helping me to get access on this location.

I am reading Shriman Yogi by Ranjeet Desai and I found out and uploaded this Shivaji Maharaj pic that i had taken some months ago.
Maharashtra is blessed with 720 km long coastline. It consists of the coastal districts of western Indian states of Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka.

I have been a little occupied with family matters and have been mostly absent from Flickr the last two weeks.Hopefully I will be more regular now.
I captured this photos during the Pattan kadoli village festival ,The Vittal Birdev Annual Yatra is celebrated at Pattan Kodoli village in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra attended by thousands of devotees,The festival is celebrated to offer prayers to the community diety of the shepherds, Shri Vittal Birdev, an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
Velas beach us famous for the fact that turtles come up on the shore to lay their eggs and night. These are collected by local villagers and kept inside a secured zone. Lot of people visit this place to visit the newborn turtles being released into sea.
yummy yummy.......salt and masala on raw mango......very tempting it was.

The Karla Caves or Karle Caves or Karla Cells are a complex of ancient Indian Buddhist rock-cut cave shrines located in Karli near Lonavala, Maharashtra. The shrines were developed over the period – from the 2nd century BC to the 5th century AD. The oldest of the cave shrines is believed to date back to 160 BC, having arisen near a major ancient trade route, running eastward from the Arabian Sea into the Deccan. Karli's location in Maharashtra places it in a region that marks the division between North India and South India. Buddhists, having become identified with commerce and manufacturing through their early association with traders, tended to locate their monastic establishments in natural geographic formations close to major trade routes so as to provide lodging houses for travelling traders. Today, the cave complex is a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.
