In this look at the Chicago skyline, the Trump Tower is on the left and in the center is the Wrigley Building, former headquarters for the Wrigley Chewing Gum Company. Regarding Trump's presidential bid, I will "chews" not to enter a political discussion here ... it's probably safer to "stick" with gum :) But you'll note the direction I've tilted the towers :)

Temperatures were cold enough this winter for the Chicago River to freeze, a relatively rare historical occurrence. The ice should be all gone by St. Patrick's Day, just in time for the river to be dyed green :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Chicago where, in keeping with tradition, the Chicago River was dyed green and, following a two year hiatus, parades were held last weekend. To make up for lost time, participants were Dublin down on the dye-hard partying :)

The Chicago Riverwalk at the south end of the Magnificent Mile, looking southwest from the DuSable Bridge (or the Michigan Avenue Bridge) over the Chicago River toward the Irv Kupcinet Bridge (or the Wabash Avenue Bridge) and the iconic Jewelers Building (a.k.a., the "Gotham City Courthouse") with its green scaffolding, which has since been removed.
Built in 1869, the Chicago Water Tower is a landmark building located on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago's Magnificent Mile shopping district. Built with Joliet-Lemont limestone, a popular building material in the city at the time, the tower stands 182.5 feet tall. The Gothic Revival style structure was the most iconic building left standing after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
According to one report that I read, the building survived the fire, along with the nearby Pumping Station, thanks to the efforts of a German immigrant fireman, Frank Trautman. He covered the buildings with woolen blankets and discarded canvas sails and kept the covers soaked in water, protecting it from the cinders and flaming debris as the rest of the city burned.

Is it Friday already? We are finally supposed to have some good weather this weekend! This is one frame from a beautiful morning here in Chicago. What do you think?
Time fly’s when you are having fun, righT? What a weekend. I didn’t get to have this much fun in a while. I’m still under impression. The only bad thing is that is already over and I’m back to the usual routine. This is a random shot that I ended up liking very much. I guess it’s because it really felt like spring. What do you think?

Every now and then I like to go back to my Chicago collection and see what I can do different. This is probably my favorite cityscape of Chicago which I took at Willis Tower observatory.
Thankful for my partner in peace, thankful for my precious gem, thankful for my friends, thankful for my life....
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Dear Friends...🍁
What are you thankful for?
Since 2002, the flag has been hung on the Wrigley Building every Fourth of July.
I came across this shot in my archive. As near as I can tell, they still do this as of last year.

Defense of Fort Dearborn Sculpture on Michigan Avenue Bridge in Chicago, Illinois
In 1804, long before Chicago was a big city, Fort Dearborn was built on the Chicago River where the Magnificent Mile now begins. On August 15, 1812, the fort was attacked by Potawatomi Indians who killed 86 of the soldiers and their families. This 1928 bas-relief sculpture by Henry Hering is on the south bridge house of the Michigan Avenue Bridge (also called the DuSable Bridge). It shows Ensign George Ronan, from the Army’s 1st infantry regiment, during the battle shortly before he was killed.
I like the colors and the movement, but should have used a tripod to make it clearer. What else could have been done better, any ideas? They are much appreciated :)
So how is your weekend going? We are having a blast teaching, learning and socializing here at Out Of Chicago Live. It is a ton of fun. After looking at some of the inspiring videos I thought I should try doing something creative today for myself. What do you think?
The Wrigley Building in downtown Chicago during our last trip there as a family. For some reason, the picture reminds me of the normalcy of the first couple of months of 2020 which soon gave way to the different world of COVID lockdown.
