I had this 15+ years before it flowered, has done again this year. It needs repotting, a very challenging operation with those hooked spines.
A very tricky bulb to grow from seed, apparently, but easy otherwise. I dug these out of their original bed and transplanted them to my rock garden a few years back.
The flowers don't last long, but they are very showy. They are planted where I can easily see them as I come up the walk to the front door.
After flowering, the leaves will also die down, although it's usually late July before the stalks are thoroughly dry.
