im so excited about this card! i wanted to make my friend some cute little magnets, but i also wanted to incorporate them into a card. so i made a refridgerator, and found a cute quote online. used my cricut to cut out the two green squares, and the "handles",(which are pop dotted) also the shapes behind owls, and again the same shapes out of the magnet sheet. to hold the magnets on, i glued a little strip of magnet behind each one. ( i think im going to put some diamond glaze on the magnets to help protect them.) OH, i colored the owls using colored pencils and gamsol.

I made these magnets to go along with my potholder gift. I also will put these on Etsy. What is Etsy you ask? A really big online craft fair, oodles of fun! And I now have a shop there, how neat is that?
The tutorial actually had one more layer to it, but flickr has a time limit on videos. To build subsequent layers, just do what I did for the last layer shown here. (Add that hexagonal star to the top, add magnets to the corners, and fill in the spaces in between.) After the next layer however, gaps and imperfections start to show.
I was actually kind of lucky that it ended where it did because it was right in between the layers, so it didn't look like it was cut off in a weird spot.
There are other methods to making this, but I find that this method creates the most stable resulting shape.

My fridge doesn't let magnets stick to it, so this vintage aluminum foil/paper towel/wax paper dispenser serves as the holder of my magnet collection, mostly from BookPeople in Austin.
