Friday night's 78% waning gibbous Moon blazed brightly over the Southern New England clear skies. As visitors strolled into the observatory, bright moonlight lit up the room and the minds of all who caught a view in the telescope. When the room quieted down, I hooked up the camera and captured this photo.

Here's a pleasing shot I captured of Messier 81 - Bode's Galaxy on Tuesday morning, February 21, 2017. Residing at 11.8 light years distant, M81 is part of a galactic group that is the closest neighbor to the Local Group, which is where the Milky Way resides. I shot this at Frosty Drew Observatory in Charlestown, RI.
Enjoy!

Bognor Regis Camera Club welcomed Rene and Allan Marriott and their Magic Lantern Show.
We were entertained with some lovely images from 1889 onwards by Ellis Kelsey (1866-1939), whose work would still be very relevant today, as well as early moving images and typical Magic Lantern tales.
Here's one of the shots I snapped of the total lunar eclipse on September 27, 2015 at Frosty Drew Observatory in Charlestown, Rhode Island, USA. This shot was taken during maximum eclipse.

I snapped this stunning photo of the Milky Way rising over Frosty Drew Observatory on Saturday, April 9, 2016. The bright summer Milky Way starts to rise in the early morning during April and will continue to rock well into the summer. I shot this at Frosty Drew Observatory in Charlestown, RI.

The Federal Territory Mosque or Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan is a major mosque in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is located near MATRADE complex and the Federal Government Complex off Jalan Duta.
The Federal Territory Mosque was constructed between 1998 and 2000. It is situated on a five hectare site near the Government Office Complex along Jalan Duta. The Wilayah Persekutuan (Federal Territory) Mosque was opened to the public on October 25, 2000 and was officiated by the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin ibni Almarhum Syed Putra Jamalulail. It is the 44th mosque built by the Government within the city limits. The mosque can accommodate 17,000 worshippers at any one time.
The mosque's design is a blend of Ottoman and Malay architectural styles, heavily influenced by the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey. It has 22 domes made from a composite material of glass fibre fabric mixed with epoxy resin to make it durable and light.

This is a sequence composite of the Occultation of Aldebaran along the graze line on Saturday, March 4, 2017. The graze line is a narrow geographic region along the edge the occultation visibility zone where the Moon will just graze past Aldebaran. This will allow for views of topographic features along along the edge of the Lunar disk that are usually not visible as Aldebaran passes behind them. The graze line passed through the University of Rhode Island campus in Kingston, RI.

Today’s Collodion tintype test with Lars.
This is UV Photographics new X formula collodion (very fast compared to OWH!) and I’m also testing a new magic lantern lens a friend has offered me. I estimate it to be about f8. No waterhouse stops - just wide open chromatic aberration goodness.
Exposure was 6 seconds in open shade, cloudy November conditions.
This is a dual-iso shot from Trastevere. It is a single shot, I obtain double ISO exposure thanks to Magic Lantern custom firmware.
The base ISO is set at 1600. The "recovery ISO" at 100 allows high lights accuracy.
Mid-spring brings the fabulous center of the Milky Way Galaxy back to the skies over Frosty Drew Observatory and will continue to showoff on moonless nights through the summer. I captured this shot of the Milky Way stretching over Frosty Drew Observatory early this morning (May 3, 2017). We've had relentless clouds and rain in Southern New England that seem to hammer the New Moon side of the synodic cycle, though the skies cleared last night. So I waited out the 2:00 a.m. moonset to catch this shot of the Milky Way in Charlestown, RI.

I captured this shot of NGC 2024 - The Flame Nebula on Sunday morning at Frosty Drew Observatory in Charlestown, RI. Found just to the side of Alnitak, the left most star in Orion's belt, the Flame contains molecular hydrogen gas that is being ionized by intense ultraviolet light from Alnitak. The Nebula contains a cluster of young stars and resides at 1,350 light years distant.

This 19th century trade card for Sterling Pianos shows a shadow rabbit with hands held in the position to form the shadow when held in the light beam from a lamp or magic lantern.
I did another timelapse despite of the weather. The Moon was full at 99.9% and so bright. Then the fog came very fast, and the clouds which sucked the fog and obscured the Moon. I'm happy because there is a cat on the road at the start of the video, and a shooting star a little bit after the cat (top left). Perhaps an orionid, or a taurid because it seems to come from the Moon and the Moon is in Taurus constellation. Not easy to spot with such weather but I have thought that was interesting to share for all these little things from a rural December night in Belgium. :-)
This image is an excerpt from a sky survey I did in 2014 in southern Rhode Island. In the image the teapot asterism in the constellation Sagittarius is visible alongside the Milky Way galactic nucleus. Along the galactic plane, Messer 8, and Messier 20 stand out brightly, with Messier 22 blazing like a bright star to the top left of the asterism.

Perdimos el camino en la noche y no encontramos el lugar. Gracias a eso aparecio este hermoso paisaje.
Launched 20 years ago the Infinity Space station has now reached the furthest a man made object has ever reached. 10 light years away. After 4 failed attempts the mission was on the brink of being scrapped. Launched 20 years ago and still sending signals back to earth it has accomplished more than anyone ever thought.
