Okay... it all started a couple days ago when I investigated installing Magic Lantern 2.3 on my Canon EOS Rebel T2i. I found out I needed a Card Reader to copy the ML software from the computer onto the SD card (I had a cheap one and it died and never got around to ordering a new one - ML pushed to do that). The Transcend USB 3.0 Multi Card Reader arrived Friday afternoon via UPS. Put ML onto the newly formatted SD card and followed the instructions to get it "up-and-running".
The main reason to do so was the ability to shoot more bracketed shots automatically (the Canon default is 3 bracketed exposures on all the lower-end models). So I chose PSU Wilkes-Barre to try out this feature of ML 2.3. Here is one of the results.... I believe the camera took 10 exposures, but I cut it down to 6 because a couple of them were 30 sec exposures. And that would have been redundant.

During their recent visit, my in-laws bought a captivating Orchid which now resides on our dining room table. With every passing meal, I became a bit more entranced by its intriguing petals.
This 19-shot focus stack (captured via Magic Lantern focus racking) was processed in Helicon Focus 6 and Photoshop CC.

This is a Glass Slide showing a street view of Sandgate, Newcastle upon Tyne.
The slide if from the late 19th century. It would have been viewed using a Magic Lantern, an early type of image projector.

This statue is an icon of the city of Songkhla for decades and is usually featured in the travel brochures for this city.
I had to queue with the others who wanted their photos taken with her. I took this as one group parted and another comes into the picture. As you will observe, the details on her top of her tail and the rocks had been smoothened due to constant rubbing by people wanting to take their photo with her. This statue would be great during the morning sun which will shine at her face.

This is one of those little purple flowers you see along the roads and in fields in the country. I "focus-stacked" 12 images to get the entire macro perfectly focused. Then I ran it through Filter Forge to add a little dimension to the shot.
Fantastic fun with Magic Lantern Dual-ISO 14 bit dynamic range.
This takes the Canon 5D Mark III to just another level. At the time I took the shot, the camera was facing towards the cloud / sky. The sun was shining through and the sky was absolutely clear.
Logically, the entire picture should have burnt out at F5.6 and the building / trees should have been rendered black with unrecoverable shadows. Moreover, there was no filter over the lens.
But that did not happen. The sky is perfectly exposed. The Sun is almost perfectly exposed and the building/ trees are perfectly exposed.
All I did was to take this to ACR 8.1 and increase the overall exposure of the picture. Then pulled down the exposure a bit on the sky so that the Sun could be visible. The highlights around the Sun were recovered almost fully. The highlights on the Sun were fully recovered without any loss.
Then, I just pulled up the shops a bit to bring attention to the fact that this was a market place.
The thing to watch is the antennate on the roof and the leaves. The separation is fantastic!
Magic Lantern is a big game changer.
A1ex and the other developers deserve a Noble prize for technology.
Canon should give them royalty for helping sell so many 5D's and 7D's and giving them an advantage over all other brands.
Saw few amazing star trails of David Kingham and Weerapong Chaipuck and i had my old star trails raw pictures ... it is a merge of 60 x pictures each 30 sec exposure shot at ISO 3200 in Skardu. The lights in the foreground are of Shangrilla Resort in Skardu with some portion of Kachura Lake also visible.

This is a Magic Lantern Slide published shortly after WWI. Along with the slide, I was fortunate to acquire its accompanying script, which is beautifully and dramatically written. This slide was one in a set of slides for a Magic Lantern slide show on WWI.

Somewhere in the distance the Germans are watching the plain, trying to discover just where these sturdy Scotchmen are and how many of them there may be. The scene that greets their eyes is just as monotonous, just as desolate and devoid of life as those tumbled fields of earth that stretch between you and the horizon beyond that row of dead trees, the most evidence of the place where there once was a road.
One would hardly think that there was any system to war while looking at this jumble of men and material. But those things that have been cast aside are useless, those ammunition cases and hand grenade boxes are empty. The plank was in the way in the trench, so they threw it aside. You can see the handles of broken shovels and the tailstock handle of a trench artillery carriage. The trench was one of those built in the late months of the war. The war then was more nearly approaching a war of movement and conseqauently the trench was made less elaborate and without the expensive timberwork.
But look at the men with their rifles, bayonets fixed, close at hand. Their gas masks at the "alert," steel helmets strapped to their heads, waiting for the Germans to attack, and then - those rifles will spit flame and steel. Some of those intrepid Scots will fall, but others will live, brush the mud and grime from their kilts, and calmly await another attack which the Germans are likely to launch.

Did you know that water lilies are cavernous plants? I didn't either! Apparently, for three days the flowers are sweet and attract bugs. On the fourth day, the sweet nectar turns into poison, killing the bugs. Then the flower closes up, and the plant digests the bugs to grown a new patch of lilies.
This is at my Professor's house. He's my printmaking teacher. I borrowed his waders and placed the tripod in the water.

Here is my shot of Venus, Jupiter, and Mars in conjunction this morning over Frosty Drew Observatory in Charlestown, Rhode Island, USA. The skies were stunning all night until sunrise offering fabulous sky watching. Orionid meteors were certainly becoming more frequent and we got our first frosty of the season. Conjunctions continue over the next three weeks so get out there!

One of the best 4 shots from a sequence of several dozen images taken using Magic Lantern intervalometer on my Canon 550D (interval: 30s).
Sorry for the raindrops. The wind was blowing on the camera.
This is very disinctive, yet it took me ages to find out where it was. The clue was the sign in this photo.
