Have a safe and happy Slider Sunday

We had a lovely visit on Vancouver Island. It wasn't a photo trip though, so I didn't get many shots. However, we went for a walk with family through Nymph Falls Nature Park, and that was where I got this one. The sun was so bright it was hard not to get the water over exposed. The roar of the water was such a wonderful sound - I could have just sat there and listened for hours.

Taken two hours and ten minutes before the previous shot. Further back in my photo stream there are some LE shots taken on the same afternoon once the tide was in and on the turn. There is only one thing you do when faced with an ocean like this and that is stick your camera on a tripod and use a remote release and hang on tight to the tripod then just stand and stare. Even now I remember it vividly because not being primarily a landscape photographer and only getting shots when away on holiday I can truthfully say that I personally have never witnessed anything like this before or since........

Truly unforgettable, even if for many it is not particularly remarkable...

Thank you so much everyone for all your thoughtful, wonderful and kind comments. I cannot convey really how much your support means to me - but please believe it is possibly and most probably more than you will ever know…Sue x

The beach at this point was covered in about 1 cm of water. The wind was so strong it was picking the water up and was blowing it from one end of the beach to the other in the form of millions of water droplets. The resulting patterns created by the swirling currents were quite mesmerising. And yes my feet did get very wet! 7 exposure HDR photo.

I'm celebrating the anniversary of this most amazing sunset from 2 years ago with an out-take I've not posted. The view is looking out of Chesler Park in the Needles District, towards the Maze. Off to the right you can barely make out Elaterite Butte, Chimney Rock, and Standing Rock.

What started as a mostly cloudy late afternoon turned into a fabulous sky show of brilliant cloud color and texture that lasted over half an hour. Whenever I get skunked waiting for a sunset to light up that never happens, I think about this evening.

Looks like rain...it may not look it, but those waves were well over 10 feet high.

Mount Rainier dancing with the clouds. After a lot of mist, rain, and clouds, it was great to get out into the sunshine around Berkeley Park. Magical, really.

Parrot & Dillos added, then polar coordinate filter applied and lightly faded.

More shenanigans with burning steel wool in a tunnel. So much fun....

Billowing smoke clouds and fire-breathing dragons rule the rails at 15,000+ feet, and the battle to the top of the Western Hemisphere pushes both the power and the physics of railroading itself, to its limits. FCCA C39-8 #1031 spews a maelstrom of black smoke as it emerges from tunnel #3 out of Galera on a double-header. The climb between Chinchan and the summit at Galera features close to a dozen tunnels and grades as steep as 4-5%. Combined with the extremely thin air of the Peruvian Andes, and it’s no surprise that stalling is commonplace on this section.

The 1031 is the ex-NS #8576 and was sold to Central Andino ~2008 where it has now served more than half of its life.

Amore! Ecco un volume in una parola, un oceano in una lacrima, un turbine in un sospiro, un millennio in un secondo.

Love! Here comes volume in a word, an ocean in a tear, a whirlwind in a sigh, a millennium in a second
