Well it is too early in the morning to correct my macro shot so I am moving on.
Have to get past the little things.
Macro
For Macro Mondays Group, the theme was Ribbons, so here are some Birthday ribbons.
They are stored in a translucent bag, so I put the light below them, through the bag. Thus the glow.
I tried a number of things for this theme (Macro Mondays group, theme: White on white).
I had a really hard time with the whites, which always turned yellowish.
I finally had to resort to processing to get the yellow out.
This is a tiny bit of lace on a white ceramic plate.
Below I will put some of the others I did.
For Macro Mondays group this week, we were supposed to put something on a coin and photograph it.
So here is a 1900 USA Silver Dollar with a cats-eye marble from the 1950s on top of it, in the sunlight.
Theme "On a Coin"
I am walking again! Going to send the wheelchair back to the place we rented it from! Still wearing the air-boot, but it is so good to be walking. I'm not too good on grass, or other uneven surfaces yet, but I'll get there!
In theater, we always said "Break a leg!" as a good luck wish. Now I'm thinking "Hmmmm, maybe not!"
The theme for the Macro Monday group is In the Bathroom, so I chose to do a very very macro shot of a loofah ball. (I'm thinking this isn't a REAL loofah, which I believe is made of something organic. It is a plastic body scrubber in the shape of ..... maybe a flower?.... made of little plastic strings.)
This is done with Reverse Lens. On the end of the reversed 18-70 lens I put a lens cover with a round pinhole stuck in it, to make the f-stop very very tiny, to achieve the greatest depth of field possible. Otherwise, only one edge of one strand would have been in focus.
It was tricky, but I ended up with this image.
Happy Macro Monday everyone, HMM!
Macro Monday Group this week has the theme "Citrus". While I, admittedly, wasn't very inspired by the theme, I did have fun buying this Ugli Fruit, slicing it, and playing around with different shots.
This one is intended to show the ugly outside of the fruit, and the perfection of the inside of the fruit. I never really got the outside in focus though... oh well.
The best part was eating my project after the camera work was done. This ugli fruit was sweet, juicy, tangy, and wonderful. It was a sublime citrus experience.
HMM everyone!
For the group "Macro Mondays" with the theme "Rhymes with 'stone'".
I know it is an easy rhyme. I pondered many different things, but this tiny old fashioned telephone won out.
It is really a pencil sharpener, but made with such fine detail I was always fascinated with it. So, here it is, sort of pretending to be a real phone... except for that pesky pencil!
HMM everyone.
For Macro Monday's group, the theme was "Brew", limited to coffee or tea.
So here is some Cranberry Orange tea, a tiny tea ball, and part of a small china teacup.
I only took some of the bigger stuff from the tea mix, so that I wouldn't waste a lot of the more powdery stuff which is most of the mix. I know the obvious flower buds are Chamomile, and I see some dried cranberry.
The teacup was my grandmother's, on my mom's side... delicate. The tea ball is my daughter's... the smallest one I've ever seen!
The tea was bought by my daughter at our local Renaissance Fair. She has quite a tea collection!
I actually took this shot on Saturday, all proud of myself for doing it early, and then all Monday went by and I forgot to upload it! I almost missed the deadline, because I was making chicken soup! But I made it into the group, after all!
I took this with actual sunshine, HDR, sharpened with Topaz Detail 3, and run through Topaz Restyle.
I don't like my food very spicy... so I use this much tabasco sauce.
lol
I tried many things for this theme... insides of flowers, nuts and acorns, feathers and milkweed fluff. But this tiny tabasco bottle won the day!
For the group Macro Monday's with the theme: FIngertips
For Macro Mondays group, theme: Dots and Stripes.
My daughter, when still very young, used all her allowance money to buy me this fake, but very beautiful, Chinese vase. When looking around for dots or stripes, I noticed the different colored dots on this vase, so I photographed a tiny portion of it.
For Macro Mondays group, with the theme "Made of Wood", here are two of my husband's beautiful pipes, from his collection.
Not happy with the focus, but I didn't have any more time to retake the shot... I put it off until so late! (I can't see through my camera so well as I used to, before the cataract operation.... it's annoying because I have to guess at the focus, mostly.)
But the beauty of the wood still shows.
So Happy Macro Monday to all!
For the group Macro Mondays, this week's theme was "Closed". Here is a glass jewelry box, with its clasp closed, and a bracelet and a necklace with their clasps closed.
You can't really see the clasp on the necklace... it managed to slither out of the photo. But it's there!
All these things were given to me by my husband.
HMM everyone!
For the group "Macro Mondays" with the theme "The Eye of the Beholder", we were supposed to find something we thought was beautiful, but which other people might not think was so beautiful.
As it happens, my paper towel rolls, in my kitchen, are on a vertical stand, in front of a window. So many times, when the evening sun comes slanting through the window and hits the roll of paper towels standing there, I would notice how the sun made the inside of the roll glow a little, and how it would emphasize the shapes and lines of the rolled towels, on their edges. I always thought it was pretty, and fascinating.
So I decided to show that.
The sunshine had to be simulated because it has rained all week! Also, I emphasized the layers of light, using color in the processing. But here it is... a look at the top of a roll of paper towels, with the light shining through the outer layers.
HMM everyone!
For the group Macro Mondays, the theme was "puzzle" this week. As it happens, we have lots of puzzles around the house. So I took two of them, and shot them together.
Happy Macro Monday, to all who participate! HMM!
For the Group Macro Mondays, the theme was "Frozen in Ice"... it was supposed to be something you purposely froze in ice.
So, after several different attempts, I came up with this cat's eye marble, frozen in ice.
The colors in the ice come from a warm light on one side and a cool light on the other side.... colors enhanced. A light was also behind the ice.
Then I ran it through Topaz Glow, to come up with the strange detailed effect.
HMM everyone!
For the group Macro Monday, this week the theme was "Things that go together".
It's not very original, but I chose salt and pepper, but I decided to show one grain (or crystal) of salt, and one speck of pepper together.
This was done with reverse-lens macro, and focus stacking. I had to do a lot of erasing of extra lines etc because the focus was so close, each increment of changing focus moved the lens and created focus shadows. (I wish there were a program which could handle that problem.)
So, Happy Macro Mondays (HMM) everyone!
This is for the group "Macro Mondays", which had the theme "Rocks" this week.
So I went out and picked up a piece of limestone in the creek. Since this is Cincinnati Ohio USA, the rock was loaded with fossils.
This photo was done using reverse-lens-macro, and focus stacking. You see the bony parts of some coral-like animals (which we call Bryozoans en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryozoa) and the long skinny thing is part of a Crinoid stem from a Crinoid plant en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crinoid#/media/File:Haeckel_Crinoid...
Below, in comments, I show a larger area of the rock, so you can see the surroundings of the extreme-macro shot. This larger area is also a macro shot, and it shows about two inches of the rock surface.
Also in comments is another reverse-lens-macro shot of another tiny area of the rock.
This Southern Ohio area of the US (and most of the USA) used to be a shallow ocean, way back in the Ordovician era. When the millions of tons of sea life slowly died, over the eons, and drifted to the bottom of the ocean, it gradually became fossilized.
Over time, the other geological eras came to be, each one depositing its own layers of life detritus, and mineralization creating rock layers, and fossils.
There are Ordovician sea fossils over most of the world, but they are buried under tons of rock which formed above them, over the ~450 million years which came after.
However, the entire area under Cincinnati and surrounding areas of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, was, at some point, pushed up from below, so that the layers of rock bulged upwards in an arc.
Then, over other millions of years, glaciers came down from the north and scraped the whole top of the bulge away. What was revealed was the earlier geological eras' rock layers. The oldest revealed layer is where Cincinnati is located. So nearly any sedimentary rock you pick up in this area will be loaded with fossils from animals who lived between 485 and 443 millions years ago.
That is one of the reasons I love living here.
For the group Macro Mondays, who has the theme this week of Vibrant Minimalism. This is a red cup with a yellow pencil, showing just under three inches of the height.
I have been busy, tired, involved in other things... cooking a LOT, etc, so I haven't been playing with my photography much. But I would like to begin again, so here I am.
HMM everyone.
This isn't my best photograph, or anything, but I sort of ran out of time.
This is a look into my mother-in-laws' button box.... from her sewing box she bequeathed to my daughter. She had quite a fine variety in there!
I wish I had time to play with the light, but I didn't.
For Macro Monday's group, theme "Buttons and Bows".
For the group Macro Mondays, Theme: Remedy
This is a bit of my Aloe plant... I guess I've owned this plant for about 40 years now. Every time I think it is dying, it somehow revives.
Aloe, as most of you know, is good for the skin, especially for burns. When my plant was huge and healthy, I would actually go break some off when I got a small burn, to soothe the hurt and help the healing.
This is my New Year's Eve photo for the group Macro Mondays. This week we could pick any theme from the whole year. It was called "Redux 2018"
This Christmas ornament photo fits into these 2018 Macro Monday group categories:
-Low Key
-Circles
-Imperfection (dust on the sphere)
-Ready for the day (The decorations were up by Christmas... just barely, but we WERE ready for the day!)
- Photography Gear (since you can see my camera lens in the reflection)
-Multicolor
-Holiday Bokeh (I was too busy and stressed the week before Christmas to participate, so I am glad to get to do this theme now... although there is only a tiny bit of actual bokeh in the upper right corner... so I listed this one last!)
-Glass
I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year!
I put an alternate shot in the first comment. I actually liked the second one better in some ways, but I wasn't sure it fit the "under three inches rule".
For Macro Mondays group, the theme is "Flame".
After a few attempts at this and that, I ended up hanging this gold heart in front of a candle flame.
The flame is out of focus, but it is there.
So, HMM everyone... Happy Macro Monday!
For the group Macro Mondays this week the theme was "The Printed Word". So here I give you words printed in three languages. The bottom layer is a page from "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in Japanese, the middle is the back of the wrapper on a Russian Chocolate, and on top is a page from "The Hobbit, Or There and Back Again".
It's a big world, and small at the same time.
AL PROSSIMO ANNO,CARE AMICHE.
Orange and Blue. Macro Mondays Group. HMM
The theme for the group Macro Mondays was "Circles". So I took a very close look at my colander. It is an old metal colander my mother used all during my childhood.... she probably bought it about 1945, so it almost has antique status.
It has certainly been well used.... it has seen hundreds and hundreds of meals of spaghetti, and has drained more Mac and Cheese than you could imagine... not to mention draining truckloads of washed fruits and vegetables.
This is a very very macro view through two of the holes. I include a photo of the entire colander, in the first comment.
Reverse Lens Macro, Helicon focus for focus stacking, and Topaz Restyle to liven it up. Plus Photoshop Elements, which is my base program.
For the group Macro Mondays, theme - Perfect Match
I may not have mentioned that my family is heavily into gaming. Thus, last year my son and husband were thrilled to be successful in the mad online scramble for tickets to "BlizzCon"... the convention for games made by Blizzard, two of which include World of Warcraft, and Diablo.
Out they went, from Ohio to Los Angeles, rented a red Mustang convertible to get around, and had an amazing time.
They came home with many souvenirs, including matching coins from the Diablo game, a game which both of them have enjoyed a lot.
So here are two identical coins from that game, presented in a devilish light. Done with Topaz Glow.

THE ENGAGEMENT RING FOR FIORELLA
Many years have passed since I made the most important investment of my life....not that of having spent a bit of money to declare my love to my future wife by giving her this ring but to have placed my future in her hands...and never has an investment been more advantageous!!!!

I COLORI DELL'AUTUNNO

THE COLORS OF AUTUMN
The maple is one of the most common trees in parks and gardens throughout much of the world, due to the grace of its habit but above all for its characteristic decorative foliage, with its typical palmate shape and brilliant colour. It is a deciduous broad-leaved tree, prefers a temperate climate and is cultivated above all as an ornamental plant.
The dimensions of the macro photo respect the rules dictated by the Macro Mondays group.

------------------------------------------------------------------
PASSION IS ALWAYS WITH ME.
In today's theme, Macro Mondays requires a photo of a keychain....for me it's a very simple theme to create because I have an inseparable one, one that represents the passion for my favorite soccer team even if it often causes me more disappointments than satisfactions.

THE YELLOW ARROW
Backgammon is a game for two people. It uses a board on which twenty-four triangles, called points, are drawn. The triangles, in alternating colors, are grouped into four quadrants, each composed of six points. The quadrants are called the player's and his opponent's home board and outer board. The inner and outer boards are separated, in the center of the board, by a strip called the bar.

IN MOTO PERPETUO

IN PERPETUAL MOTION
For today's theme of "Macro Mondays" it seemed perfect to use a small Murano glass Hummingbird, swinging it on its thin nylon thread, trying to give that sense of movement required by the theme.... the result, deliberately in a high key, makes this small and fragile bird almost alive.
I certify that the dimensions of this photo fully respect the rules of the "Macro Mondays" group

OGGETTI COMPLEMENTARI

COMPLEMENTARY OBJECTS
As is well known, with the use of digital devices, people write less and less with a pen, just as it is not new that messages shared on social media are written in block letters.
But that young people would abandon cursive, to the point of having real difficulty in using it, was perhaps unthinkable.
Yet this is what has been confirmed in various studies and now a real alarm has been raised.
In fact, it is not just a question of defending an important component of our language and Italian culture.
The important aspect is that the writing exercise is relevant for the enhancement of cognitive abilities. Few people know that the cursive of the Italian language was designed to allow you to compose words without ever lifting the pen from the paper, being able to connect the majority of letters together.
This is because writing while being able to trace words in a continuum is an exercise that is good for the brain.
All the more reason the abandonment of cursive is worrying scholars, also because at the same time we are witnessing an increase in writing disorders.
I confirm that the macro photo measurements comply with the rules dictated by the administrators

For the group Macro Mondays, the theme is "What is that?".
The answer to what this is can be found in the tags.
So, here I am, putting this photo into the group an hour and 20 minutes before the deadline! What's happening here... am I getting organized???
Naahh!
I should say, for anyone wanting to look at the answer in the tags... if you just hover your mouse over the tag, it will show up in a little window... you don't have to decipher the run-together words you get if you click on the tag!
------------------------------------------------------------
THERE IS NOT MUCH IRON IN THE HOUSE
For today's theme of "Macro Mondays" I had to rummage around a lot before finding an iron tool....in fact most of the things we use nowadays are made of light alloys, plastic or stainless steel...maybe we don't realize it but iron is used less and less.

I PASTELLI DELL'INFANZIA
--------------------------------------------------------
THE CRAYONS OF CHILDHOOD
Macro Mondays has great value for those who have a passion for photography....by launching weekly macro themes, it helps you rediscover things that have been forgotten and kept for a long time and never used again.
The classic example is these wax crayons that I didn't even remember I owned and that I found in a chest of drawers.

A NEST OF GOODNESS
The egg tagliatelle are
very famous all over the world and "Bolognese" is the favorite version: it is
fresh pasta, (always an emblem of Bolognese cuisine), cut into strips to create "tagliatella" and seasoned with the famous "ragù", which is minced beef, celery, carrots, onion, tomato sauce, pepper and salt . Woe betide anyone who dares to speak or even name "spaghetti alla Bolognese", they don't exist or rather they are not seasoned with ragù, but rather with tuna.

Mahhh.

MY BOKEH IS SHY
Today the Macro Mondays group requests an image with bokeh as the protagonist and, I admit, it doesn't excite me because those artificial and glittering backgrounds don't reflect my understanding of photography...but this is a game and I don't mind getting involved game.
This is my proposal, simple and also meaningless. Mahhh.
