It’s that time of the year again! I’ve been in Barbie land lately with the abundance of dolls recently released by Barbie Collector. So, it’s time for a group shot once again. First is Black and White Collection™ Beaded Gown. The doll I’ve been looking forward to since the year started and she has finally arrived. Another doll who I’m looking forward to is 2013 Holiday Barbie™ African-American. The first Holiday doll to have the new Pazette mold. Love the way she is styled and surprisingly I am loving her gown. Another doll who I think will fit in my collection if redressed is Global Glamour™ Collection Tribal Beauty™ who has the Pazette mold as well. I would love to give her bangs based from the edited pic I did a while back. I haven’t bought ANY of The Barbie Look™ City Shopper™ Dolls yet, but will eventually get them maybe one doll each month. City Shopper™ AA Mbili for sure have been on my radar from the get go as seeing her with a long hair was an improvement from her short haired Basics 2.0 version. Although I’m not sure of the highlights on her hair. They are too precise which look like a striped pattern. Wasn't a fan of City Shopper™ Blonde Steffie’s hair from the start either. Maybe because I don’t like it when Steffies show their foreheads so I’m planning on restyling her hair. Speaking of so-so hair, City Shopper™ Brunette Mackie, although refreshing to see brunette… not sure of her hairstyle as well. The one I’m excited about, except for her shoes, is City Shopper™ Blonde Lara because I recently found out that even though her prototype has the Basics 2.0 Model No. 2 Lara face design on the promos, her production version actually has the Basics 1.0 Lara face design which was the same case for Basics Target Red Model No. 2 AA Lara. The 1.0 Lara face design was miles better than the 2.0 face design. Okay... Moving on. The mystery articulated Kens that I’ve been anticipating since last year were finally revealed and they are the Texas A&M University Ken® Dolls. I’m actually happy that they are at least cheerleaders and not fantasy dolls because they can be easily redressed (and undressed:D) and for their price they’re not that far from their Basics versions so they are total must-haves especially AA Ken as this is the first time we see him articulated. Definitely over the moon! And finally, Malibu Barbie® Doll By Trina Turk who I fell in love with the moment I saw her promos. She really is a dream doll for me as I’ve been wanting Malibu Barbie® to be revisited and to be given an update. I wanted to make my own in the form of Pink In Pantone® Barbie® in TBL’s Poolside Fashion but an official Mattel release was more than I could ever imagine. Another doll in swimsuit? Well hello, It’s Malibu Barbie®!

UPDATED: 11/23/13

Here's the second half of the dolls on my expanding Wishlist for this year. I really liked Stephen Burrows Alazne™ Barbie®, and I still do despite the fact that she doesn't have any rooted hair or flocking, or even if she has a disappointing hole in her head. She still has the pontential, and a makeover is in order for her. One of the big surprises this year is Coach Barbie®. I can see firsthand the amount of detail that went into making this doll and I'm glad I was able to get her before she sold out. This year Barbie Collector offered yet another K Mart Exclusive. A red haired version of the 2013 Holiday Barbie™ and I think she looks exceptional! One of the fiercest Barbies of the year is The Blonds Blond Gold Barbie®. This must-have doll is a follow up to last year's doll from the designer duo. A no-brainer. She's coming home with me! Now I'm not really a fan of celebrity or Hollywood themed dolls, in fact there's really no place for them in my collection until... Jennifer Lopez Red Carpet! I'm really impressed by Mattel for making an effort to create a face sculpt in her likeness. Despite what people's perception is of this doll, I really think that Mattel nailed it. I think the face is spot on! Just when I thought no more Kens will be released this year, Mattel released two more (not to mention articulated) male dolls, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Finnick and Peeta. I do think the dolls from the movie franchise has set a landmark for Hollywood themed dolls at Barbie Collector by giving them new face sculpts. In the past, BC would use pre-existing sculpts and would usually do a face paint trick that left their celeb dolls disappointing. BC has turned up the volume and did exceptional this year... And speaking of exceptional, Hervé Léger by Max Azria Barbie® has won me over by her edgy styling and winner accessories! A doll that was meant to be redredressed, she comes with another set of ensemble in a black and white jacquard dress. An homage to Barbie's signature bathing suit from her debut in 1959. Of course I'm also over-the-moon by her bleached-eyebrows! She is truly one fierce Barbie and I can't wait to have her in my hands.

Ilove the Tnt face sculpt! my favorites dolls!

My Favorites dolls are the Mod era of Barbie!

I’ve been meaning to post this before the year ends but with a work schedule like mine, I only got a chance to do it right now. Again, I’m doing two “Top Five” every year, one for Barbie and for Integrity.

Who are your Top Five Dolls of 2013? Remember, it doesn’t have to be dolls from just one company or brand. You can totally mix it up. Consider yourself tagged if you see this post.

See last year's Top Five here.

See Top Five Integrity Dolls of 2013 here.

The Barbie Look City Shopper Blonde Lara - I’m not a major fan of open mouth smiles but Lara is always an exception. I love a blonde Lara with a neutral make-up palette and I think this doll looks chic with her styling. Totally love the dress and the black tights.

Texas A&M University African-American Ken - One of my most anticipated dolls of 2013. It’s about time we get an articulated AA Ken! And as some of you may know, the Basics Model 17 sculpt is one of my favorite contemporary Barbie sculpts and I’m glad to see it this year.

Hervé Léger by Max Azria Barbie - Perfection! Love everything about this doll. I think this is one collector Barbie of 2013 with the most play value as she comes with stunning fashions and accessories to mix and match. My top favorite for sure. You can’t go wrong with a Louboutin face sculpt… and bleached eyebrows. Fierce! Just fierce!:D

The Barbie Look City Shopper African-American Mbili - Has anyone noticed? No Barbie with the Mbili sculpt was released this year from Barbie Collector except for this one (technically a 2012 release). The Pazette sculpt has taken over which is good. It’s time for Mbili to have a little break. I love her style and that sweater dress.

Black and White Collection Beaded Gown Barbie - Probably an underdog. Yes her dress had us confused. May not have been the best when it comes to styling. May not have lived up to everyone’s expectations after Robert Bests’ Precious Metals Collection ended, but the doll itself is gorgeous. Yet again, another quintessential Barbie but this one stands out with her lovely smokey eyes, her nude lips and her thick eyebrows. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that she turned out to be one of the best this year. I love how the dress looks once displayed.

I love the Twist n´Turn Face Sculpt

Gosh I was about to do an elaborate photoshoot...but this is all I can do...for now.:)

First off we have everyone's favorite Barbie Basics 2.0 Model # 14 Dahlia. She is my top favorite. Everytime I see her, I'm always mesmerized by her beauty. I literally stare at her for five minutes everytime I take her out of the storage. Next we have Basics 1.0 Model # 8 Xania, who I named after Beyoncé's character in the Pink Panther movie. I just think she's perfection. I love everything about her. Her make-up, her hair and love that dress. Fits like a glove! Next is Basics 2.5 Model # 14 Alexandrina. Now, Alex is kinda like the White Queen in reference to Emma Frost from the X-Men. (Note: Emma doesn't have ice powers. She can turn herself into diamonds and can also read minds. LOL. A little X-trivia for you). So they kinda have the same persona. Both smart, quick wit and beautiful. Alex always wants to compete with her sweet little sister Dahlia. Next we have Basics 2.0 Model # 17 Blair. Tall, dark and handsome. Reminds me of male model Nathan Owens (Google him. He's hot!!!) ...and lastly, my latest favorite, the new girl in town, Basics Red Model # 1 Barbie. It's refreshing to see a Mackie mold with a short asymmetrical bob. I'm just in love with her. She will be my main Barbie. My quintessential Barbie. She is going head to head with another platinum blonde Alexandrina, both stealing each other's thunder...and of course Alex is not having it. She will cut a b****!!!

My honorable mentions are: MOTM Nichelle, Barbie Basics 1.0 Model # 10, Harley Davidson Ken, Diane Von Furstenberg Barbie & Barbie Basics 1.0 Model # 16.

So I bought the entire Barbie Styled By Tim Gunn Collection at BC.com as a birthday present to myself. As a fan of the Basics, it is only natural that I will like this one. I decided to buy them online to take advantage of their Buy More Save More promo. The dolls are priced $27 and the fashion packs are priced $23 with the promo. Now unto the good part. The packaging is great. There’s a great selection of tasteful fashion pieces to mix and match. Fashions that can be shared with the Basics. The dolls are prettier versions of their Basics counterpart. That’s actually one of the reasons why the dolls appeal to me and I want to keep them. Now the negatives. As expected from BC.com they will send badly paint screened dolls. True enough, I noticed that Mackie’s left eye looks like she has a scratch (see the large picture). Aphrodite could have been alright but I’m bothered by the white paint by her right pupil. Now, I was aware that the white dot on the Tim Gunn Aphrodite’s eye make her look a bit cross eyed. It is all the same in every IRL pics that I have seen of her. Aphrodite's stud earrings are hard to remove as they have hooks on the inside. Bummer! Now, as I opened the accessory packs, I discovered that the strappy sandals were both for the left foot. How annoying is that!? Both printed top and skirt's material are not of the best quality. I was running my fingers on them and it created lines. Similar to what happens when you run your fingers on stockings when you scratch it with your nails. How I wish Mackie wasn’t wearing jeans. Enough with the jeans, seriously! I would have liked a black trouser instead. Those jeans might be stretchy but again they’re a bit fragile. The jeans from the Basics were better quality. If my frustrations weren’t enough, I broke one of the straps of Aphrodite’s shoes. Great!

If I only knew they will be available at physical Target stores days later I would not have bought them online. I obviously have not learned my lesson ordering Pink and Black Label dolls at BC.com. I pre-ordered Stephen Burrows Pazette Barbie along with this order and it has already shipped. She will be here soon. I am crossing my fingers that everything will be alright with her. I have yet to find replacements of the dolls, shoes and fashions.:(

Hey peeps! I'm back from the grave! Weee! So some of you may know I have been looking for replacements of the entire Barbie Styled By Tim Gunn Collection (Yes! The entire set!) so I found the Mackie doll at Target for $35. Thumbs down for the additional $5! Boo! I also bought Best Models On Location: South Beach Barbie. I didn't hate her but I didn't think I needed her. For years I've been admiring her beauty and really thought her orange tunic was really chic at that time. So I gave in and bought her on eBay for $57. I finally found the replacement of Stephen Burrows Pazette on eBay for $125. I know the extra $25 sucks but I'm pretty much pleased with her. She's a keeper. Now, I'm not really a fan of the Carnival sculpt but I really thought that F.A.O. Schwarz 150th Anniversary Barbie is adorable. Got her at ToysRUs for $50. She'll probably be my last purchase with that sculpt. I consider her my Holiday Barbie this year because I really did not fall in love with the Holiday doll, I even went to K-Mart and searched for the exclusive brunette version, but she was a pass for me. Also got me Barbie <3 Jonathan Adler which I have been looking for a long time now. Although I have to say I want the entire set except for the head of the doll. She will be a body donor to Heidi Klum as I'm not a fan of her faux painted-on lingerie. Found her on eBay for $40. Most of the dolls here are on my extended wishlist which I will edit in the future as I always go beyond my current wishlist. What's new?:D

My Red Collection girls rebodied in Basics 2.5 bodies. Still looking for my Steffie.:D

The BEST of the bunch. Even tho the Mackie is yet ANOTHER blonde...she's the most attractive and least cartoony of the four.

I like her fashion as much as Lea's fashion.

At least ONE entry out of the four releases was successful!

;)

I have high hopes for 2012. This is the first half of my wishlist. First are the Barbie Basics 3.0 Swimsuit Collection. When it comes to the Basics, I'm not a completist. I'll just purchase the girls who I think are the fiercest. I recently got Model # 8, a gift from a friend. She's on top of the list so she has to be the first. LOL. Next is Barbie ♥ Jonathan Adler. I don't necessarily like the doll but I love anything Jonathan Adler. Love the dress and the miniature accessories that comes with her. This will of course go with the Barbie ♥ Jonathan Adler Happy Chic Set that I bought for $14 at the BC.com that is still remained unopened. Next is Barbie Basics Red Target Exclusive Model # 3 The only one from the collection that is missing. I waited for so long, now she cost so much her original price...And finally Pink In PANTONE Barbie. I was on the fence on getting her at first because I'm not really sold on the dress. I love the doll because she looks like a quintessential Barbie and I really love the platinum hair. To me, she seem like a modern version of Malibu Barbie. Also she reminded me of Versace Barbie because of her tanned skin. She's not as cartoony as the Jonathan Adler doll. Both look like a typical Barbie doll, but Pantone is more chic for me.

My last purchase for 2011! Weee! Within three minutes of listing on eBay I, without missing a beat, bought my third set of Barbie Basics 2.5. All 3 for $40 with free shipping. I just have to! These girls are overpriced nowadays. Those money hungry fake collectors are selling each doll for $40 to $60. It just makes me mad! These third set will remain in their boxes. The 2.5s are just special and that is why I need more of them. I also have to confess that I bought two Model 14s from Doll Genie for $26 each. I’m glad I did, because after buying from them they now marked the prices to $40 each. Insane! Unfortunately, those two dolls have wonky eyes. So off with their heads! Their bodies will now be used for rebodying. And finally I have Barbie Basics Red Model # 1! Found her on eBay for $27 with $8 shipping. I never thought I would love her this much. Now that there’s a lot of gorgeous head sculpts out there, the Mackie mold is kind of overshadowed. But she stands out because of her bold hairstyle. It took me a while to get her because every time I go to Target, I find a wonky eyed doll. So I waited for the perfect one to show up. But alas, found a perfect one on the bay. I didn’t care if I have to pay that much as long as she looks perfect. I was about to buy Model # 3 Steffie, but with the newly restocked Barbie aisle, the Red Collection dolls are nowhere to be found. Darn it! Will they show up again? I have no clue. Anyways, I’m sooo excited for what 2012 has to offer! I’m praying for more gorgeous dolls. Ooh! I can’t wait!!!

Is it Barbie (Black & White Beaded Gown Barbie) or Dahlia (Barbie Basics 2.0 Model # 14)?

I think Delfie has an Abbey Chase/Danger Girl air about her.

This is Maxie, the only Mackie faced girl in my collection. She is from the Target red dress collection. I was thinking about selling her because I didn't really like the dark eye make up, frosty pink lips, and white hair combination. So I decided to dye her hair :p I really like how she turned out. Now she is one of my favorites :)
