Last day in Hong Kong, on the promenade at Ma On Shan

Resting for the next challenge in life.

A view from Sharp Island - including the tombolo to little Kiu Tsui island which appears at low tide

haven't been out with a tripod, all the way to the spot and do a bit of long exposures for ages, I used to be with a tripod alot but since I got some fast lenses I got lazy and bokeh is like all I would shoot. Today I just feel like doing something like this again, forget about f/1.2 and iso1600, good that I still know how to do it, my limited skill is still with me :)

At 702m (2,303 ft) in height, Ma On Shan is one of the 10 tallest peaks in Hong Kong

One of the many things I love about Hong Kong is how near the hiking trails are - it is usually enough to take the metro and go hiking. Peaks are not particularly high, the one here called Ma On Shan is 702m, but are often steep and climbs start basically at the sea level, so it's fun. This photo is taken from the top of The Hunch Backs - to get there you have to climb a very narrow and steep (660m altitude difference over 2km of hike) trail which is terrific.

It looks best full-screen so please press L and check-it

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ma_On_Shan_(town):

Ma On Shan (馬鞍山) is a new town along the eastern coast of Tolo Harbour in the New Territories of Hong Kong. Although it was initially an extension of Sha Tin New Town, it has its own town centre and various government facilities, and is now classified as a separate new town in government reports.

Administratively, it belongs to Sha Tin District.

Ma On Shan is located by the west face of the twin peaks of Ma On Shan, which can be translated as "horse saddle mountain". The town is built on the strip between Tolo Harbour and Ma On Shan mountain. The north end of the town reaches the settlement of Wu Kai Sha and the southern Tai Shui Hang.

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plover_Cove_Reservoir:

Plover Cove Reservoir, located within Plover Cove Country Park, in the northeastern New Territories, is the largest reservoir in Hong Kong in terms of area, and the second-largest in terms of volume. It is the world's first freshwater coastal lake constructed from an arm of the ocean. Its main dam, which disconnected Plover Cove from the sea, was one of the largest in the world at the time of its construction.

Everybody has a story...what's yours?

Ma On Shan is the name of both the large hill and the high-rise town beneath it. This shot was taken from the unfortunately named Ma Shi Chau or Horse-poop island.

A dull and rainy day in Hong Kong, working in my little room, twenty-one floors up.

Sunshine City (Chinese: 新港城) is a name of a sizeable private development in the core of the town of Ma On Shan in the Sha Tin District of Hong Kong. It was developed by Henderson Land Development, and contains a series of high-rise residential tower blocks and a series of shopping arcades. The largest, Sunshine City Plaza, has nowadays become the centre of Ma On Shan.
