A vibrant moment from the Guggenmusik festival in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. A musician from the Swiss band "Weihere Schränzer" smiles warmly while playing the trombone, fully immersed in the festive atmosphere. Her dazzling costume, inspired by ancient Egyptian designs, adds to the spectacle of this unique carnival tradition.
On February 22, 2025, Guggenmusik bands filled the streets of Schwäbisch Gmünd with powerful brass sounds and vibrant energy. Dressed in striking costumes with bold face paint, these musicians brought an electrifying atmosphere to the city. Their synchronized performance, fiery expressions, and golden instruments reflected the true spirit of carnival.
Yet, looking back, this moment is tinged with sadness—one day later, the German federal election took place, and its outcome left me disappointed. A memory of celebration, now clouded by reflection.

📄 Description

The basement below J&J's Pizza served as a DIY venue for Denton musicians for almost 20 years before shutting their doors this summer. I documented part of their final week.

La Piscine ("swimming pool") is a museum of art and industry in Roubaix, France.
The swimming pool was constructed between 1927 and 1932.
It closed as a swimming pool in 1985 and was remodelled as a museum, opening in 2000.
A modern entrance building, special exhibition space and garden were constructed in the adjoining textile factory.
Some moments feel like music spilled gently into the day, making the world a bit softer without asking for attention.
