Interior of the Mariahilfkirche in Munich.

 

The official name of this church is Pfarrkirche Maria Hilf in der Au. Built 1831 to 1839 in neogothic style.

 

The church was nearly destroyed during the final bombing raid on Munich on April 25 1944, only the steeple survived. Re-build in 1951/52.

The HVB Tower, formerly also known as "Hypo-Haus" (Hypo-House) is the headquarters of the HypoVereinsbank, a brand of Unicredit Bank AG.

 

This 113.7 meters tall Skyscraper in Munich was completed in 1981 and was renovated recently to meet modern energy standards.

The BMW Welt (English BMW World) is the combined exhibition, event and delivery center of BMW.

Located in the Milbertshofen-Am Hart district next to the BMW Vierzylinder (corporate HQ), it was built from 2003 to 2007.

The lower floor of the Baroque 2-floor Bürgersaalkirche located at the Neuhauser Straße in Munich.

 

The Bürgersaal was built 1709/1710 by master builder Johann Georg Ettenhofer, following plans created by Giovanni Antonio Viscardi. It is known as Bürgersaalkirche since the consecration of the altar in 1778.

 

The building is the prayer and meeting hall of the "Sodality of Our Lady 'Annunciation'".

 

This lower floor served originally as the printing room of the Sodality. It was converted to a crypt-like chapel in the 19th century.

This is not the entrance to some fancy concrete bunker, this is a view from the eastern staircase of the Messestadt Ost subway station, the eastern terminal of U-Bahn line U2.

The rear side of this castle. Schloss Blutenburg (Blutenburg Castle) was first mentioned in 1432 though it's origins reach back to a moated castle from the 13th century.

In the years 1438–39 Duke Albert III, Duke of Bavaria rebuild the castle as a hunting-lodge.

Nowadays it houses the International Youth Library (Internationale Jugendbibliothek) and the library of the Michael Ende Museum.

An unusual highrise office building in Munich - in the shape of a bridge. 90m long, 23m wide, max. height 46 m. It houses mainly media companies, hence the name "Medienbrücke" (="Media Bridge")

The Justizpalast Munich (Palace of Justice) opened in 1897 and has this fantastic set of stairs. I love just looking at them

 

Note: Sorry for a repeat shot, I originally shot this freehand June 2018 and wasn't 100% happy with the result. So I had to return and try again but this time with a tripod :-)

The (for now) final shot of this art installation "Umschreibung" created by Olafur Eliasson in 2004. Also known as "Endless stairs".

Gingerbread bakery - another market stall display on the "Münchner Christkindlmarkt" (Munich Christmas Market).

 

Gingerbread (Lebkuchen) is a German Christmas tradition - it even made it's way into the English speaking world, particularly the UK, when introduced by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

Facade of the Dreifaltigkeitskirche, a rather small Baroque church that was built from 1711 to 1718 according to plans by Giovanni Antonio Viscardi. Located in the Pacellistraße.

It is the only church in Munich that was not destroyed during World War II.

Max. seating is 75,000. Due to it's shape it earned the nicknames "Schlauchboot" (inflatable boat) and "Autoreifen" (tyre).
