Empty BNSF coal C705 rolls north on the Mississippi Export Railroad after unloading their 135 coal hoppers at the Victor J. Daniel Power Plant near Helena, MS. Paced at a 1/13th shutter speed, we see BNSF SD70MAC 9848 as it does its part to push the train back north through Agricola, MS.

A pair of Mississippi Export Railroad GP38-2's complete with gyra light and RS5T horn blast their way south through Agricola, MS on a fine spring morning.

Framed from the shade of a magnolia, the Mississippi Export Railroad's southbound freight 51 is seen rolling through Harleston, MS behind MSE's original pair of geeps.

Illuminated by golden hour light, MSE 65 and 70 bring their sixty-four car northbound Train 51 up the hill into Agricola, MS.

Shortly after sundown, an empty coal train on the Mississippi Export makes its northbound run from Plant Daniel. Captured here in Agricola, MS, with a duo of EMD SD70ACes on point of the 135 coal hoppers; a lone GEVO pushes the end.

MSE 68, a former CNW GP50, leading a cut of pellet hoppers South for CSX interchange in Pascagoula, MS, where CSX will then deliver them to the port. Here they are just South of Evanston. This was a fun chase from Lucedale down to Moss Point. Thanks to Noah & Isaac for the assistance on catching these guys. Just so happened to luck into the gong bell GP50 leader!

Victor J. Daniel Power Plant coal load MSE C704 cruises down the Mississippi Export Railroad out of Agricola, MS behind a pair of BNSF EMDs.

A late extra run on the Mississippi Export rolls north bringing a new coal set for Plant Daniel out of storage from the Big Point yard. On point is CN SD75I 5641 and CSX AC44CW 5102. Having been dropped off in Evanston by CN A488, they made the run south on MSE light power and are seen returning north through Agricola with the 84 coal hoppers.

Mississippi Export GP38-2s 66 and 70 pull through the backwoods along the railroad's Evanston yard to spot their cut of hoppers into the yard's south end.

The crew would then shuffle cars around the north end of the yard for another hour or so before tying down. Although my hopes for a southbound chase out of Evanston were dashed, it was nice to get a few decent shots of this unique operation. 1/7/2023

Illuminated by perfect golden hour light, empty steel slab train MSE (CN) U703 eases into Mississippi Export’s Evanston Yard behind a trio class 1 units. Having run a loaded set of gondolas south in the morning (U702), they are seen here bringing an empty set north from a U702 two weeks prior. These steel slab trains are delivered to MSE by CN to be unloaded on barges in Moss Point, MS and shipped to the AM/NS Calvert Plant in Calvert, AL. Taken with permission.

Mississippi Export’s northbound freight 50 rolls into beautiful afternoon sunlight behind a pair EMD geeps as they make their return trip to Evanston.

MSE C704 heads south down the MSE mainline with the 4th SD70MAC of the week trailing second.

MSE Train 51 shoves across the swing bridge over the Escatawpa River outside of Moss Point, Mississippi with a massive train from the CSX interchange.

On this cloudless sunny afternoon, MSE C702 (UP coal for Plant Daniel) adds its own clouds to the sky, as the trio of GE's pulls their 105 loaded coal hopers over the hill into Agricola, MS. 4/26/20

A classic EMD duo comprised of an ACe and a first gen Executive Mac emerge from the shadows into perfect golden hour light as they bring MSE C704 into MSE's Evanston Yard before stopping to split the train and tie down.

Enviva, a wood pellet manufacturer has built a brand new production facility in Lucedale, Mississippi. Their production is growing causing a demand for the MSE to operate 7 days a week. This day, they pulled 15 brand new hopper cars. They are interchanged to the CSX at Pascagoula to the south.

Mississippi Export (MSE) train 50 coming into MSE's Evanston Yard this evening with a rare four-unit lashup. They had a rock train in tow for the Vulcan rock company.

A warm summer evening on the Mississippi Export sees loaded BNSF coal set C704 begin the 30-mile trip south from Evanston to the power plant. These coal sets are loaded at the Powder River Basin in Wyoming and are delivered to the Mississippi Export Railroad in Evanston, MS via CN to be unloaded at the Victor J. Daniel Power Plant just west of Helena, MS. Framed at the Evanston Yard Limits, BNSF SD70MACe 9752 and company bring the 135-car coal train up the hill and out of the yard, providing an atmospheric shot as blue hour sets in. 7/9/23

Mississippi Export’s train 50 rolls north through the countryside of south Mississippi with MSE 67 and 68 on point.

Victor J. Daniel Power Plant bound coal train C702 rolls south down the Mississippi Export Railroad, framed just south of Agricola, MS. The 104 car UP coal will spend the next six hours unloading in Plant Daniel, then head back north.

As the suns fades away in the western sky, a duo of BNSF EMDs bring MSE C705 north on the Mississippi Export Railroad after unloading their 135 coal hoppers in the Victor J. Daniel Power Plant.

The evening sun catches the three early 20th Century buildings at the Pier Head, Liverpool are often referred to as "Three Graces". All are Grade I listed from left to right: Royal Liver Buildings, Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building.

Just after sundown, we see MSE's current road power lit up in Evanston, MS as they're tied down for their two day weekend (Fri-Sat), ready for work Sunday morning. Evanston is the northernmost part of the 42 mile shortline and is the interchange point for CN.

MSE 66 leads its first train on MSE after being gone in Knoxville, TN for ten months being rebuilt for a GP38-2 to a GP38-3. MSE bought MSE 66 new in 1979, it has been Repaint it a few times, but this was its first rebuild.

MSE 51, the daily Mississippi Export road freight to Moss Point, is southbound near Big Point, Mississippi with recently acquired SD40-2 #71 leading one of the native GP38-2s.

MSE's GP38-2 70, sits at the shops in Hurley, MS while getting its speedometer fixed.
