The MSC Fantasia (Italy) arrives in the caldera at Fira, Santorini. There will be tourists... lots of them. :))

Trieste Terminal Passeggeri is dwarfed by the rather large MSC Fantasia cruise ship.
MSC began using Trieste as home port in 2020 when Venice stopped accepting large cruise ships in Venice Lagoon.
The terminal building, hangar 42, was built in 1930 and is under restoration to modernize the facility.
...to this year's rapeseed season - only one or two weeks to go.

In the background, the Swedish-flag ferry Stena Scandinavica is leaving Kiel for her regular overnight crossing to Gothenburg. She is followed by the cruise ship MSC Fantasia at the start of a Scandinavian cruise.
MSC Fantasia was delivered to MSC Cruises on 11 December 2008. She was officially named on 18 December 2008, in Naples by Sophia Loren,[5][6] and started on her maiden voyage on the same date.[1] Since her first cruise, this vessel has been the flagship of the company. (Wiki)
The length of the ship is 333 m. and there are cabins for 3900 passengers.

The Trieste cruise passenger terminal, Molo Bersaglieri, is used as a embarkation or disembarkation port. Cruise ships dock at the Stazione Marittima (Port Station).
The port of Trieste cruise terminal is one of the two Italian locations that replaced Venice when the Venice Lagoon was banned for large cruise ships in 2021.
26 November, 2018, MSC Cruises announced the acquisition of a significant stake in the holding company TAMI (Trieste Adriatic Marine Initiatives Srl) that owns and manages Trieste Terminal Passeggeri (port's ferry and cruise terminal).
In 2020, MSC started homeport operations from Trieste (roundtrip itineraries).
MSC Fantasia built in 2008 accommodate 3,274 passengers in 13 passengers decks, 18 decks total.
This is not the cruise ship for our trip.
