Lake Saiful Muluk is a mountainous lake located at the northern end of the Kaghan Valley, near the town of Naran. It is in the north east of Mansehra District in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan and feeds water to Kunhar river. At an elevation of 3,224 m (10,578 feet) above sea level, it is well above the tree line, and is one of the highest lakes in Pakistan.Malika Parbat, the highest peak in the valley is near the lake.Saiful Muluk was formed by glacial moraines that blocked the water of the stream passing through the valley.

People tend to compare this to Halong Bay due to its similar mountainous shape landscape, however, most of these are on land.

Usually if you got here earlier, you would see a different scene, whereby there would be many tourists and boat activities, instead, when I was here late (about to get dark), all I saw was a load of empty boats. But I liked what I saw here, a beautiful sunset and a quiet scene.

We borrowed bicycles from our hotels and rode here, along the way, seeing this small city during sunset and at night. A very beautiful city. BTW, this place is one of the places where they filmed the new King Kong in 2016. Can't wait to see the movie and see how this area was used.

Updated: Watched the Kong movie, not really presenting the real scenery here. Oh well, what do I expect from Hollywood, where everything is made-believe.

A cat in greenery is a harmonious combination ... however, cats are always and everywhere harmonious :)

The ancient Egyptians had a special relationship with cats: they were revered as sacred animals; mummified like humans; depicted in sculpture and frescoes. And the very first cat "portrait" was written by the Egyptians.

For a long time it was believed that the Egyptians tamed cats. However, in 2004, a burial site dating back to 9500 BC was discovered in Cyprus. e., in which a cat was found together with a man. A wild beast would hardly have been put in a grave. It turned out that cats lived with people long before they appeared in Egypt. The Middle East began to be considered the birthplace of domestic cats, and Egypt was forgotten for some time. But not for long: in 2008, a burial was opened in southern Egypt, in which six cats were found - a male, a female and four kittens. Although this burial was younger than the Cypriot one (about 6000 years), it became clear that cats were known in Egypt much earlier than was thought until recently.

It is known that the ancestor of the domestic cat was the steppe cat Felis silvestris lybica - it still lives in the steppe, desert and partly mountainous regions of Africa, Western, Central and Central Asia, in Northern India, Transcaucasia and Kazakhstan. In 2007, it was possible to establish that all modern cats descended from him.

Seafarers brought the first cats to Rus' in the pre-Christian era. Exotic animals were a valuable commodity: the cost of a cat until the 15th century was comparable to the value of a healthy arable animal - an ox.

The Pitons are two mountainous volcanic plugs, volcanic spires, located in Saint Lucia. Gros Piton is 798.25 m (2,618.9 ft) high, and Petit Piton is 743 m (2,438 ft) high; they are linked by the Piton Mitan ridge. The Pitons are a World Heritage Site, 2,909 ha (7,190 acres) in size, and located near the town of Soufrière -

These tiny little hummingbirds are always active and it was great to see the little volcano hummingbird take some time out to preen. They are so tiny but certainly do not lack in beauty !!!!!! These beauties are found at higher altitudes in The mountainous areas of Costa Rica !!!!!!!!!

Wishing you all a lovely and blessed evening !

On the Cuenca - Molleturo route, the first lagoons to appear are Llaviucu and the Toreadora. There you can enjoy the moorland and quinoa forests, which form dreamlike landscapes.

Males have red concentrated on crown (brighter than throat) with pinkish wash coming into breast; flanks are pale with only a few fine streaks. Females are similar to Purple Finch but with more diffuse face pattern and finer streaks on flanks. Both sexes tend to show more peaked head and longer bill than House and Purple Finch. Found in mountainous regions, mainly in coniferous forests, drifting to lower elevations in winter. Visits feeders. (eBird)

Lifer! We had to find this bird by ourselves since we had left the tour thanks to covid. The light was waning but I managed to catch this shot :-)

I wish good autumn to all of you!

Today's theme is great National Parks that I have visited. Icaland's Vatnajökull National Park mostly encompasses mountainous territory and land close to mountains, including parts of the highlands of Iceland where summers are short and weather conditions can change suddenly. Such was the case the day I visited this pituresque place, the weather closed in rapidly and a freezing wind sent us on our way.

Snow leopard (Panthera uncia or Uncia uncia), also called ounce, is a carnivore that inhabits the mountainous regions of central Asia and the Indian subcontinent.

Its litters of two to four young are born after a gestation period of approximately 93 days.

Snow leopards have pretty long tails. About 80 – 100 cm in length as against its body length of 48 – 60 cm.

The snow leopard uses its bushy tail to keep balance when it jumps.

The tail allows the leopard to maneuver rather quickly.

The leopard uses its tail as a blanket when it is asleep, it wraps the tail around their body.

The snow leopard population is estimated to be only a few thousand animals, and the species is thus considered endangered.

The fiords of New Zealand are all located in the southwest of the South Island, in a mountainous area known as Fiordland. The spelling 'fiord' is used in New Zealand rather than 'fjord', although all the maritime fiords use the word Sound in their name instead. The Marlborough Sounds, a series of deep indentations in the coastline at the northern tip of the South Island, are in fact drowned river valleys, or rias. The deeply indented coastlines of Northland and Auckland also host many rias, such as the Hokianga and Waitematā Harbours. New Zealand has fifteen named maritime fiords, listed here from northernmost to southernmost. 13699

The park relief is mountainous and characterized by rocky formations, with altitude between 540-2791 m (1,771-9,156 ft), and at its highest point is the peak of the Black Needles (Agulhas Negras).

In Itatiaia Plateau region, also known as "Upper Part", are the high fields and hanging valleys where there are several river sources. In the Park area are the origins of 12 major regional river basins, which supply two main basins: Rio Grande (Grand River), an affluent of the Paraná River, and the Paraíba do Sul River, the most important of Rio de Janeiro.

The Big Three:

*Pico das Prateleiras ('Peak of Shelves') (2,551m / 8,369ft) in the middle left:

It is one of the most impressive and beautiful landforms in Itatiaia Park. To the southwest, there is a gigantic wall that falls towards the Paraíba valley, but forms a ridge with little difference in level to the northwest that connects with Morro do Couto. flic.kr/p/2oJ4HiZ

*Pico das Agulhas Negras ('the Black Needles Peak') (2,791.5m / 9,156ft) on the left:

It is the highest mountain in the Park and one of the highest in Brazil. Agulhas Negras stands out in the landscape and it's no wonder. flic.kr/p/2oFZq2E

*Morro do Couto ('Couto Hill') (2,680m / 8,752ft) in the middle right:

It is a mountain, even though it has “hill” in its name.

The country of mountains, this is how the name of the republic is translated into Russian. And this is no coincidence, perhaps, only mountains can unite all the diversity that this region has, from cultural and ethnic diversity to the incredible change in landscapes and landscapes.
