Shot with the Olympus E-M1 in Rockport, Massachusetts. The red fishing shack in the background is known famously as Motif #1. It's one of the most popularly photographed and painted buildings in New England. I chose to accent the canoe in the foreground instead.
Rockport, Massachusetts is a small fishing village and artist colony at the tip of the north shore of Boston, otherwise known as Cape Ann, or "the other cape" to distinguish it from the more popular and touristy Cape Cod. I'm a big fan of Cape Ann as you might be able to guess.

Butinant des fleurs de lilas de Corée, un Papillon du céleri (Papilio polyxenes) appelé en anglais, Black Swallowtail, Eastern Black Swallowtail ou American Swallowtail.
Le Papillon du céleri est un grand papillon noir de forme vaguement triangulaire possédant une queue. Il est ornementé de lignes de taches blanches l'une formant un V l'autre submarginale aux ailes antérieures et postérieures et de taches bleues aux postérieures ainsi que d'une lunule blanche centrée de rouge. Certaines sous-espèces ont une ornementation jaune au lieu d'une bleue.
Le Papillon du céleri hiverne à l’état de chrysalide. Ce sont les chrysalides de la seconde génération qui hivernent. Il vole donc en deux générations au Canada, en mai juin puis en juillet août. Le Papillon du céleri réside en Amérique depuis le sud du Canada et le nord des États-Unis sur la côte est jusqu'à la côte pacifique de l'Amérique du Sud : sud-est du Canada, est et sud des États-Unis, Cuba, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombie, Pérou, Équateur.

Today's motif, this small speckled bush cricket, brought itself into the center of my attention yesterday.
While I was sitting at the coffee table with my family, we suddenly discovered this approx. 1.5 cm long animal in a bouquet of flowers in the middle of the table in the phlox blossom.
Of course, the meal had to be interrupted first so that I could hold a small photo session. The little grasshopper was also very patient with me (I had to rebuild my camera first) and cooperated well.
Then my daughter brought it outside to the garden.
Das Motiv des heutigen Tages, diese kleine Punktierte Zartschrecke, hat sich gestern selbst ins Zentrum meiner Aufmerksamkeit gebracht.
Während ich mit meiner Familie am Kaffeetisch saß, entdeckten wir plötzlich dieses ca. 1,5 cm lange Tier in einem Blumenstrauß mitten auf dem Tisch in der Phlox Blüte.
Selbstverständlich musste die Mahlzeit erst einmal unterbrochen werden, damit ich eine kleine Foto Session abhalten konnte. Die kleine Heuschrecke war auch sehr geduldig mit mir (ich musste ja erst meine Kamera umbauen) und hat gut mitgearbeitet.
Danach hat sie dann meine Tochter nach draußen in den Garten gebracht.

Les moines de Cîteaux sont devenus propriétaires de vignes à Meursault en 1098, par donation du Duc Eudes Ier de Bourgogne à l'Abbé Robert de Molesme, fondateur de l'Abbaye de Cîteaux. Les caves, les celliers et les granges furent construits dans la vigne du "Vieux Clos" pour devenir La Maison de Cîteaux. Ce domaine fut la propriété de l'Abbaye de Cîteaux jusqu'à sa vente comme bien national en 1792. Les bâtiments restèrent inchangées jusqu'en 1865, date à laquelle le nouveau propriétaire, Jules Bernard, fit bâtir l'actuel château, au-dessus des constructions des moines. Jusqu'à l'arrivée du "Phylloxéra", le marché fut prospère. A cause de cette maladie, le Clos de vignes entourant le château de Cîteaux dut être arraché. C'est en 1995 que Philippe et Liliane Bouzereau firent l'acquisition du château pour y établir le siège de leur exploitation familiale. Le parc du château fut à nouveau planté en vigne comme jadis et les caves du XIIe siècle furent elles aussi restaurées...
N’ayant pas l’usage de toute la propriété, les Bouzereau mettent en vente le château en conservant leur activité viticole.
En 2009, Monsieur Garnier et son épouse achètent le château. Après deux années de travaux et de restauration historique, l’établissement « Le Château de Cîteaux La Cueillette » ouvre ses portes en septembre 2012. Il regroupe un hôtel, un restaurant et un spa de Fruititherapie.
Édifice de plan en T composé d'un corps central flanqué de deux pavillons, implanté au sein d'un parc arboré. Toiture, composée de toits brisés à croupe et de toits en pavillon, couverte d'ardoises. Lucarnes à couronnement rectangulaire et lucarne à baies jumelées et fronton cintré orné d'un chiffre "JB" (Jules Bernard). Édifice comprenant un rez-de-chaussée et deux étages dont un étage de comble. Moellons de pierre enduits et chaînes d'angle en pierre de taille formant pilastres. Baies rectangulaires, parfois surmontées d'une corniche moulurée ou d'un fronton triangulaire. Baies à arc déprimé. Garde-corps à balustres en pierre formant des motifs divers. Rez-de-chaussée, édifié en pierre de taille, en saillie (excepté sur la façade nord du corps central) formant terrasses avec garde-corps à balustres en pierre. Au sud, terrasse accessible par un vaste escalier en pierre à montées convergentes. Travée centrale surmontée d'un fronton-pignon cintré orné d'un cartouche sculpté portant le chiffre "JB" (Jules Bernard).
Shot with the Olympus E-M1, Mark II at Albert's Garden, Albert’s Garden is located at 16-18 E. 2nd Street between Bowery and 2nd Ave. in the East Village of Manhattan, New York City.
When I first approached this garden walking along 2nd Street I saw this tree and it immediately struck me as a gigantic Japanese painting, a wall mural. As I grew closer I realized it was a living tree of amazing, statuesque beauty.
I have posted two shots of this tree, the other being a crop of this very same photo, just to demonstrate it's magnificent dimensions. I'll have a few more shots from Albert's Garden soon.
Albert's Garden is a member of the Manhattan Land Trust, a non-profit organization protecting land for public use. The garden was permanently protected in 1999 by The Trust for Public Land.
Albert's Garden is maintained by community volunteers, a program of the N.Y.C. Parks & Recreation.
The garden is open to the public at various times during the week. Unfortunately, when I walked by it was closed. I hope to return during another season. This is a remarkable oasis in the midst of New York City.

TUESDAY — 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
WEDNESDAY — when gate is open
THURSDAY — 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

SATURDAY — 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

I took this shot with a film camera back in the 1980s. This is a picture of the fishing docks in Rockport, Massachusetts. I'm sure it's changed some, but haven't been back there in many years.

If you hike around here or explore the area by car, you will find motifs like this everywhere.
With the latter, the biggest challenge is always finding a place where you can safely stop and park your car. The roads here are quite narrow and winding for long stretches (i.e. confusing). I drove past some interesting motifs because I didn't manage to do so and I didn't have the time (sometimes I didn't feel like it) to walk back a kilometer or more.

Wenn man hier herum wandert, oder die Gegend mit dem Auto erkundet, findet man solche Motive überall.
Bei letzterem ist die größte Herausforderung immer, einen Platz zu finden, an dem man gefahrlos anhalten und sein Auto abstellen kann. Die Strassen hier sind doch über weite Strecken recht schmal und kurvenreich (also unübersichtlich). Ich bin an einigen interessanten Motiven vorbei gefahren, weil mir dies nicht gelungen ist und ich keine Zeit (manchmal auch keine Lust) hatte, erst einen Kilometer oder mehr zurück zu laufen.

Gestern habe ich dieses wunderbar statische Motiv entdeckt und mit der X100 ein Bild davon gemacht. Bei der Bearbeitung kam mir dann die Idee, an diesen Wurzeln die Pixel Shift Funktion meiner Sony auszuprobieren, was ich bis dato noch gar nicht gemacht hatte. So habe ich ein Stativ eingepackt und bin heute noch mal hin. 333 MB ist die Datei groß geworden, die mir die Sony App aus den vier RAW Bildern erstellt hat, beeindruckend viele Details gibt es bei 100 % zu sehen und das Ergebnis kann sich in meine Augen sehen lassen.

"Grown Seniority II"
Yesterday I discovered this wonderful static motif and took a picture of it with the X100. While editing, I got the idea to try out the pixel shift function of my Sony at these roots, which I hadn't done before. So I packed a tripod and went back today. 333 MB is the file grew up, the Sony App has created from the four RAW images, so much details there is to see at 100% and the result is impressive in my eyes.
