Another panoramic of Canyonlands NP from our cross-country trip. We had only had this camera for 5 days at this point, and had no experience with panoramas yet.
The last few days, I've had more opportunities to get shots of the yellow rumped warblers in less dense settings. Nice to get them!

If you think the composition is a bit unusual with the sun cut in half, I was left with little choice - because the ferry I was taking this shot from, obstructed the rest of the view to the right (and that did not make for a scenic view).

Yes, I know...a lot of these lately. But every year at this explosive time, I go out and take tons of photos many of which never get uploaded because I try to present my stream as a calendar/diary of the days...and as we know the days fly by rather quickly. So as we are currently enduring dramatic thunderstorms, I thought I'd offer another admittedly from a week or so ago. And yes, this processed version is a bit dark yet again (as some of you have commented of late), so I have added the SOOC version in comments which may also please the purists amongst you.

Jellyfish have no brains.... just elementary nervous systems. And... though they can contract themselves and kind of control their vertical movement... they're totally at the mercy of winds, tides and currents for their horizontal locomotion.
They only live a few months. And yet... what a life.
Imagine. No work. No decisions. No angst. Just a lifetime of floating around, eating little critters and... at some point... going through the reproductive motions.
I think I'd like a life like that. Structureless. Thoughtless. Emotionless. Painless. Free of relationships. Free of complications. And mercifully brief. One day you're jellying around in the water... the next you're a drying smear of mucous on the rocks. And then, with the next change of tide, you're gone... recycled back into the sea.
Sounds pretty good to me...
Everyone has second thoughts. Some more often than others. What if we had made different choices? There is no way to go back and try again. There is no way to explore an alternate timeline, a divergent reality, or a parallel universe. As things stand now, we do not have that sort of technology, and may never have. But we do have imagination and we do have reasoning. To the extent that we can, we always want to "investigate" the age old question: "What if?"
