Monument Valley has been featured in many forms of media since the 1930s. Director John Ford used the location for a number of his best-known films, and thus, in the words of critic Keith Phipps, "its 13 square kilometers have defined what decades of moviegoers think of when they imagine the American West." Between 1945 and 1967, the southern extent of the Monument Upwarp was mined for uranium, which occurs in scattered areas of the Shinarump Conglomerate; vanadium and copper are associated with uranium in some deposits.
There is only one trail in Monument Valley on which tourists are allowed to hike without the supervision of a Navajo guide. The trail travels around West Mitten Butte and goes near a road which leads to nearby Navajo homes. East Mitten Butte is in the distance.

The Wupatki National Monument is a United States National Monument located in north-central Arizona, near Flagstaff. Rich in Native American archaeological sites, the monument is administered by the National Park Service in close conjunction with the nearby Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument.

Monument Valley is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of sandstone buttes, with the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor. The most famous butte formations are located in northeastern Arizona along the Utah–Arizona state line. The valley is considered sacred by the Navajo Nation, the Native American people within whose reservation it lies.
Retiro Pond
Retiro Pond, or ‘Estanque del Retiro’ in Spanish, is a large, artificial lake located near the park’s northern entrance. There is the possibility to rent rowboats, which is a very popular activity on the weekends. Next to the lake stands the impressive Alfonso XII Monument that consists of a semicircular colonnade and a huge pedestal with an equestrian statue of the king on top.

Uit archiefonderzoek door de gemeente Ede de afgelopen jaren is gebleken dat veel meer mensen in Ede zijn opgepakt. Om recht te doen aan deze mensen heeft Stichting Joods Monument Ede, in nauwe samenwerking met de gemeente Ede, besloten het monument aan te passen.Op het huidige monument zal een nieuwe dekplaat komen met alle 183 namen.
The Jewish monument lists 50 names. These are the names that were known at the time the monument was erected in 2012. Archive research by the municipality of Ede in recent years has shown that many more people were arrested in Ede. In order to do justice to these people, the Stichting Joods Monument Ede, in close cooperation with the municipality of Ede, decided to adjust the monument. A new cover plate with all 183 names will be placed on the current monument.
