Rue des Remparts is a historic street in Quebec City that follows the line of the original wall that once surrounded the city. Located in the Upper Town (Haute-Ville), this street offers spectacular panoramic views of the St. Lawrence River, the Port of Quebec, and the Lower Town. Its name, which means "street of the ramparts," refers to its proximity to the fortification, one of the few that are still preserved in North America. The street is lined with old stone houses and historic buildings dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is a quiet and picturesque spot, popular with tourists and locals for walks, allowing them to appreciate the city's rich military and civil history from a unique perspective.

Montmorency Falls, Québec City, Canada.
The Montmorency Falls (Chute Montmorency) is a large waterfall on the Montmorency River near Quebec City. A suspension bridge over the crest of the falls provides access to both sides of the Montmorency Falls Park.
The waterfalls are 83 meters tall, that is 30 meters higher than Niagara Falls. The falls are at the mouth of the Montmorency River where it drops over the cliff shore into the Saint Lawrence River, opposite the western end of the Île d'Orleans. During summer months, the falls give off a yellow glow due to high iron content in the waterbed.

Rue Sainte-Anne, one of Quebec City's most well-known streets, is a vibrant artery that runs through the heart of the Upper Town. It is famous for its high concentration of restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, and art galleries. This pedestrian-friendly street, especially during the summer, serves as a natural stage for numerous street performers. Musicians, portrait painters, caricaturists, and other entertainers can be found along the street to entertain visitors and locals. The atmosphere is consistently lively and festive, thanks in part to the restaurant patios that spill out onto the street. This dynamic creates a unique experience that blends the city's historic charm with a street-fair atmosphere, making a stroll down Rue Sainte-Anne a memorable experience for everyone.

This is a view of Montmorency Falls near the suspension bridge. Below the falls, a rainbow had formed and a precarious looking staircase was visible twisting up the opposite cliff.

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church is one of the oldest and most significant Protestant churches in Quebec City. Built in 1810, it was the first English-speaking Presbyterian church in the city, and today it is the oldest Anglican worship building in Quebec. Its neoclassical architecture stands out with its stone facade and Georgian influences. Inside, the church maintains a sober and elegant appearance, with a historic organ and central pulpits that reflect the Presbyterian worship tradition. The church served Quebec's Scottish community and hosted British soldiers during the Napoleonic Wars. Its location within the walls of the old city makes it an important historical and architectural landmark.
People take pictures of Montmorency Falls from all angles.
Don’t get too close, though, unless your camera is waterproof...
Note the rock climbers on the right, and the people on the bridge above, giving you a better idea of the size of the waterfall.
Taking a selfie in front of Montmorency Falls, which are about 1½ times the height of Niagara Falls...
Le Parc de la Chute-Montmorency est situé à quelques minutes de la ville de Québec. Entre fleuve et falaises, c’est un des sites les plus spectaculaires de la province.
These falls are just east of Quebec City....They plunge 272 feet(83m), which is 1-1/2 times higher than Niagara Falls. There are two more images below.
PLEASE VIEW LARGE ON BLACK...
The only way to get anywhere near Montmorency Falls without getting wet is from the pedestrian cable bridge that spans the river.
The water is not as close as it looks: you can estimate the distance better here.
Montmorency Falls.
Quebec City, Quebec CANADA
The falls, at 84 meters (275 ft) high, (and 150 feet wide) are the highest in the province of Quebec and 30 m (98 ft) higher than Niagara Falls. The basin at the foot of the falls is 17 m (56 ft) deep. The falls are at the mouth of the Montmorency River where it drops over the cliff shore into the Saint Lawrence River, opposite the western end of the Île d'Orleans. The falls were given this name in 1613 by Samuel de Champlain. He named them in honour of Henri II, duc de Montmorency, who served as viceroy of New France from 1620 until 1625.

Just like Québec City itself, Montmorency Falls Park also has a higher and a lower section, and just like in the city, there is a téléphérique (top left) and a set of steps (right) which lets you go between the upper and lower level. There are even people climbing the rocks, but you can see them better in this photo (see note on the right of that photo).

The Port of Quebec is the oldest port in all of Canada, with a history dating back to the city's founding in the 17th century. Located at the confluence of the St. Lawrence River and the Saint-Charles River, the port has been a vital economic artery for the city and the country. In the 19th century, it was one of the most important ports in the world, serving as a point of entry for thousands of immigrants, especially from the United Kingdom. Today, while its cargo traffic focuses on bulk goods, the port has become a major hub for cruise ships. Its location near the historic city center makes it an ideal arrival point for tourists. Part of the old port, known as the Vieux-Port, has been redeveloped for tourism, offering a marina, a waterfront promenade, and exhibition spaces.
Montmorency Falls are about 1½ times the height of Niagara Falls, but quite a bit narrower... They are only 7 miles up the river from Québec City and one can get there by regular bus, line 800.
A cable car takes you up and down between the two levels, or you can take some wooden steps. I took the cable car: had walked up and down enough stairs in Québec City...;-)
Take a raincoat and/or a waterproof camera housing if you want to get anywhere near the falls on the lower level...
Montmorecy Falls, named after the Viceroy of New France, is frequently billed as "taller than Niagara". At 276 feet tall this is true... but kind of misses the point that no one goes to Niagara Falls for its height.
The falls are a short distance out of Québec City and make a great little detour to visit.
