Not really a lavender but commonly called so because of its colour. 'Mona Lavender' is a cultivar of Plectranthus plepalila according to one nursery. This one in my Gold-Coast hinterland garden is a shade lover and grows well on my sheltered outdoor deck.
Believe it or not, this is the official entrance to the MONA galleries. That black door takes you through into the original building by architect Sir Roy Grounds. Once inside you take the stairs or a lift down into the dungeons. Not quite, although the incredible structure carved out of the sandstone, can be likened to an ancient Egyptian tomb.
On the wall facing us in this photograph is a series of distorting mirrors. I am actually standing on the tennis court that we have to walk over to get to the entrance (you'll see it there in the reflections). Behind that is "Amarna", a James Turrell light installation we'll look at tomorrow. The funny story of how a tennis court came to be in this place is told by Adrian Franklin in his book "The Making of MONA" (Viking, 2014). It was all David Walsh's fault.
I was so happy to finally be able to go see the Museum Of Neon Art. It recently repoened in Glendale and it was fabulous! My timing was great as Eric was there and I was fortunate enough to meet him. He does the Neon Cruise and it looks like so much fun! I enjoyed his insights and previews of upcoming neon signs that are being restored and will be displayed. I also loved the #Signgeeks Exhibit. It will be on display through June 19th. Highly recommended!

My little project of new and old architecture would be incomplete without referencing MONA (Museum Of New and Old Arts).

Esa luz con la que brillas me guia
y me saca de este laberinto.
Tu eres mi joya del Nilo,
lo que siento por ti es distinto
Y si el monte Sinai no llega,
juro que te lo pinto
Voy en busca de un tesoro,
ayudame a descubrirlo
Si tu me miras,
Me pierdo como arena en el desierto
Sabes que si te beso
tu ya de mi no puedes escapar
Como la mona lisa
me puede ver pero no tocar

The confessional - it's a 12-metre tube that travels three levels underground at MONA, Tasmania - people can talk to each other from each end.
After taking so many low-light photos in the museum underground, i'd left the camera on ISO 25,600 which made this image over-exposed and grainy. Actually almost has a film grain quality to it ...
Mona Vale is located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney and is one of the many Ocean Pools located up and down the coastline.

MONA X TRES CHIC EVENT!

Just over five centuries ago, Da Vinci spent 5 years waiting for Mona Lisa. And it was great, because until today Mona enchants us with her enigmatic smile, her charm, elegance and nobility of character.
But Leonardo had to wait much longer before Mona Harris appeared. And he admits, it was worth it. A woman of principles and knowledge transformed into wisdom, able of uniting a people disunited since the American Civil War. We live on a wild little planet. It's time to heal our wounds. It's time to look to a future for everyone. Of all races. Of all religions. From all social classes. Ignorance makes wars. Uniting people is an Art. The true Art of Life.
Monas or National Monument (Indonesia: Monumen Nasional) is a 450 ft tall monument in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The National Monument at daytime.
It represents the spirit of the Indonesians to fight for their independence. The construction began at 1961 under Soekarno and was finished at 1975 under Soeharto's reign. It was made of marble with the top consisting of a 14.5 tons flame-shaped bronze coated with 35 kilograms of gold (Wiki)
