Moving North, it is a whole different scenery, more remote and isolated and much less attended by tourists. Mö∂rudalur is part of the Highlands, an area not accessible in winter - the route is plowed only to the farm where one could find a welcoming coffee shop! But despite its remoteness, the scenery is spectacular.
I've been posting somewhat randomly but essentially in reverse order - my itinerary went from Akureyri to Reykjavík. If interested, you could find an overall perspective on my web site at www.marcgirard.smugmug.com.

Okay so its late summer but this memorial garden is in full swing. I was an early riser as I caught the landscaper watering the lush landscape. Everything is in full bloom and some parts of the garden are overrun but look full and robust. It won't be long now until October and the changing of the guard hits the midwest. For now though its nature showing her beauty and she looks mighty fine.

What I presume to be ALS job 102 begins to pull at Missouri Avenue in East St. Louis (Alorton), IL - a common hold-out point on the Alton & Southern - after a long wait for permission to enter Gateway yard. The crew would pull across the NS Southern West District at A&S Junction and sit for another 40 minutes or so before completing their journey.
Thanks to the A&S PD who stopped by to ensure I wasn't about to jump, then protected my shot here.
I took this as some low, fast-moving clouds rolled through. It was my first time photographing the Arch with the new lights (in 2019). They definitely open up additional options for creative night photography!

A small, private coffee roastery with "Handmade Quality" can be found in the Saale-Unstruttal/Saxony-Anhalt/Germany.
In this "glass" coffee roastery, the coffee roasting equipment is visible to everyone.
While drinking a delicious coffee and perhaps enjoying a piece of their excellent homemade cake, you can watch them at work and thus experience a roasting "live".

In dieser "gläsernen" Kaffeerösterei sind die Kaffeeröstanlagen für jedermann sichtbar.
Während man einen leckeren Kaffee trinken und vielleicht ein Stück ihres hervorragenden, hausgemachten Kuchens genießt, kann man ihnen bei der Arbeit zusehen und so eine Röstung “live” erleben.

The Falls of Moness are a series of waterfalls on the Moness Burn in the Birks of Aberfeldy (Birches of Aberfeldy). This locale was also made famous in a poem by Scottish poet Robert Burns.

Breezing by at 55mph, engineer Ellis Lister effortlessly brings an empty West Labadie coal bucket through the sleepy village of Holden. They took little to no time to get back up to speed after coming out of the hole in Centerview; In a last-minute decision, they had to cool their jets due to Amtrak's westbound 319 approaching two of its station stops in Sedalia and Warrensburg. Although I'm sure they could have easily made it to Lee's Summit with Mr. Lister at the throttle, the dispatcher thought otherwise. This caused the train to arrive at this location 15 minutes before sunset.
With a little enterprising imagination the proprietors of the balloon firing ranges are branching out....
A westbound intermodal is seen as they roll through Cresson after knocking down the MO signals, this features the last SD70ACC built for NS in the lead position.
